We've changed the Voting Language on the voting buttons from "I Like This!" to "Ooh, That's Juicy!" for up votes.
Longer confessions (over 450 words) will need to be clicked on to finish reading them.
We've changed the Voting Language on the voting buttons from "That's Juicy!" to "I Like This!" for up votes, and from "Report It" to "Umm, WTF?" for down votes.
Registered users can now submit multiple comments on a confession. Previously it was limited to a single comment.
We added a dedicated search page for mobile users. You'll now see the search page listed in the mobile navigation menu.
After some tweaks to the code, visitors can now submit a single comment on each confession without having to log in. This single comment rule also applies to logged in users at the moment to avoid comment spam, but we will adjust that soon so that logged in users can submit multiple comments on the same confession. - Thanks again for the critique!
Some of you have written in expressing your concern that forcing log-ins is affecting the volume of comments on confessions, and we agree. Requesting that visitors have an account before leaving their feedback was done for TWO reasons. Reason one was to increase the privacy of our users. Reason two was to prevent the website from turning into a dumping ground for SPAM and other digital graffiti. With that said, it *might* be possible to keep the spam off the site, yet also provide the ability to have visitors make a comment on a confession without an account. We will investigate further if and what can be done. Stay tuned!
After just over 2 weeks, we've reached 228,753 total website views and now have 242 registered member accounts! Way To Go!
After several requests regarding the confession display length being too short (120 words), we bumped it up to 350. This should allow the vast majority of confessions to be displayed in their entirety while scrolling down the page. Longer confessions (over 350 words) will need to be clicked on to finish reading them. We hope this tweak provides a good balance and that the improvement makes the website more user friendly. - Thanks for the feedback!
We continue to monitor the new website and fix any issues as they are reported.
We are happy to report that the new website build is now finished and ready for you! =)
It has certainly turned into a much longer "adventure" than we had originally anticipated. Many issues have been fixed with this upgrade and we are happy to report that the new, and greatly improved website will be far more extensible and expandable for the future. We hope you enjoy it, and do let us know of any issues that you many encounter.
We have decided to keep Adult Confessions online, and will make the necessary upgrades to keep it up and running well into the future. The primary issue is that the old code base was written 10+ years ago, and is not able to make the jump from PHP 5.6 to PHP 7+. PHP 5.6 is now at the EOL (End Of Life), and servers around the World are being upgraded to PHP 7+. We've tried several times to move to PHP 7, but the website breaks in too many ways to keep patching the code up any further.
