I recently agreed to watch my friends newborn son so that she could return to work, and I could earn a little extra money to help around the holidays. The aggreement is that I keep the baby 3 days one week and then 2 days the next. It's just the way her schedule works out. Anyway. Everything seems to be going ok until last week. She was LATE 2 out of 3 days and even asked me to keep the baby on Saturday (weekend care was never discussed with me). She comes in my house to pick up the baby, and instead of taking him so that I can prepare dinner and take care of MY 2 children, she sits on the couch and just watches me as I try to juggle 3 children. One of which is not my own. Im sorry, but when my kids were in a home daycare, I walked straight in my Babysitters house and IMMEDIATELY started helping to put my childrens shoes on and gather their things so that the babysitter could take care of her family. Then this lady that I am sitting for had the NERVE to ask me to keep her son one night until her Husband got off of work!!(Which is at about 8 o'clock p.m.) I ask her WHY??? She tells me because her 3 dogs are throwing up blood and she needs to take them to the Veterinary ER!! What a LAME EXCUSE! Im sorry!! Call your Husband and tell him to leave work. He left last week at lunch time because they were fighting over money!! I know because her Husband works with my husband! It's like she expects me to keep her kid all the time because we are friends. But I have my own family to care for as well. If I wanted a 3rd child..I would have had one. I don't mind the babysitting. But babysitting in this house ends at 6:00 pm. I just feel like shes taking advantage of me because we are friends. And I haven't said anything about it because I don't want to lose the friendship or cause problems with our Husbands at work. And trust me, our Husbands dont get along that well anyway, so I don't want to do anything that would cause a world war between the two of them. So I just want to know if anyone else thinks that I am being used. If so, how can I go about stopping it, but still maintaining a good personal and professional relationship with this woman? I treat this as if it were a REAL JOB. I bathe the baby EVERY night before he goes home, I care for him the way I would my own child, I dont charge her an insane amount of money, I send her pictures and videos of him alllllll throughout the day, AND I write down on a formal log sheet every time the baby pees, poops, eats, etc. She's got it pretty good here with me!! But shes taking advantage of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
