I hate when people beg to GOD. If you wrecked your marriage, why would ask GOD to forgive you? Ask your husband to forgive you instead.
God is merciful, GOD will forgive. I don't think he/she/it gives a rat's ass about your petty problems. If GOD loves us all and is merciful, why are there people starving in Africa and why do babies die? All part of a GOD's plan.

Since man invented 'confession" most christians I know can walk around 'sinning' all they want and feel it is all made up for by chanting some foolish words whilst playing with beads.
I on the other hand do not believe in an afterlife, therefore I must live this life to the fullest extent possible, believing that I will not live in eternal peace and happiness together with all of my dead kin in some afterlife.
'Dust thou art, and unto dust thou shalt return.'...go forth from which you came. Sitting on the right hand of GOD is not literal, but you shall remain part of the universe as dust and no longer a breathing entity.
Aside from living a decent life showing kindness to others..ect. (which anyone can do, religious or not) How is begging forgiveness from GOD and sitting/kneeling/standing in a church going to bring you closer to the almighty than I?
I believe in the "blue dome" religion. God is the universe and the universe is god, not some personification of a human who watches and judges over every living thing on earth and dictates punishment and reward according to your deeds.

Ummm...man did not invent confession. Christ did...and he explained to St Peter. (Check your bible). And Catholics can't run around sinning thinking all they have to do is go to confession and POOF, everything is all right. Your confession will be worth nothing if this is the case. And the silly little chant with the beads? These are words of love and devotion to the Blessed Virgin, taken from the bible, along with meditations and devotions to the life of Christ. Maybe you should take the time to educate yourself about a faith before you disrespect it.

I believe they are mostly embelleshed stories of true events that are based on passed down tales.
