It's been two years since the wedding and I confess that I realized from the start of the honeymoon that I made a mistake in marrying my husband. He's not a bad man, but I don't have the type of romantic or sexual feelings for him that I would like to have in marriage. At the time, I thought I could just live with the disappointment since we are from a culture that frowns on divorce. But recently I have had a series of dreams (both erotic and non-erotic, just romantic) that showed me what I am missing.
Just last night I dreamed that I was living in 17th century Scotland and my village was about to be atacked by the English. My husband was a tall, brave Scotsman who kinda looked like a young Mel Gibson (younger than in Braveheart, think Gallipoli). I knew that he would die fighting to protect me and our children. We kissed and I felt so full of love that I thought my heart would burst.
I know I'll never have interactions like this with my husband. But maybe these are unrealistic desires.

What do you think the chances are that I will find the type of love I hope for if I leave my husband?

Are you looking for love, or sex? Now days its hard to find both in a marrage, but if you're not happy get the hell out, don't waste his life along with yours. I'm sure theres lots of studs out there just waiting for you if sex is what you want. And just remember you said for better or worse for ever and ever.

"...unrealistic desires..." about says it all. Your expectations indicate that you are very immature, either you are very young or you have been very sheltered.
When you leave your husband and become alienated from your "society", your struggle for survival will substitute for all your yearning for "romance"; you will probably hook up with all the wrong types and become a statistic in the records of social services.
Good Luck, you will need it.
