Today, I saved a girl's life. She was trying to commit suicide. I saved her even though there is an ocean seperating us. She posted it on her blog. People sent her positive messages but she went through with it. She posted she took the pills. That she was feeling dizzy, tired, numb...

I panicked. I clicked her ''about me'' page and there was a picture of her and half her name. I decided then and there that if she had social media I would fucking find it. And I did. I found her FB and even though it was on private, I managed to contact her mother.

I sent the message, that her daughter was in her room, had OD'd on pills nearly an hour ago. I had no idea if she was still alive. I recieved a curt ''Thank you, I found her and called 911''.

Her mother then posted onto her daughter's blog 2 hours later (it was still open on the computer) and thanked everyone that sent her daughter positive messages. That she was in the hospital and being treated.

I saved her daughter's life. I'm the one who told her her daughter was DYING. I saved her life from across the fucking world with half a name and a picture. And she thanks the people that sent her messages ''Don't do it'' ''We care!''.

I don't know. I'm glad she's safe. I'm really relieved, I cried. I was so happy. But still. I feel really proud of the fact I was able to save her. But it kind of hurts not to get recognized for it??

Is that wrong??

Theres a thing. most people think its all physical and see nothing.
you did a good deed. you know it and so does nature.
nature ALWAYS keeps a balance.
keep that good deed for you and you will see nature gives you something as good back.
dont use ego. you did what you had to do.
it has been noted but not by zombie humans.

Oh my god. I feel you and I feel the exact same. We may have been helping the same gal, on Tumblr I was trying to contact someone who could help. Anyone. I'm glad that you were able to do it for your person (unless its the same...)

I did that once, you don't need recognition you did an amazing thing, no-one can take that from you you should be proud of yourself this person and their mother both know what you did was good even if they don't recognise you for it

The problem with suicide it's a very shameful thing for the family, which explains the "curt" reply and her concentrating of the positive things said online. The fact that it is a shameful thing means it can't be talked about, along with the feelings that make someone think about it, which makes it a viable option for a lot of people.

The reality is that, when you think about it, you stopped a girl from ending her life in the frame of mind she was in then. Hopefully, she will get therapy and eventually she will learn that life is not hopeless. Someday, when she's in a better place, she may think of the person that didn't even know her, but cared enough to intervene. Just knowing someone cared could make all the difference for her. You did a very good thing and you should be proud, but you won't get the recognition you are looking for, not like saving someone from drowning or from a burning building. Still, you saved a life, but more you gave someone a second chance. That's a very huge thing.
