Anything Goes

Straight Male / 41
All I ever wanted was a friend in you.
But you kept pushing, wanting more from me.
I finally gave in and we had two great years.
All your silly jokes, laughing at me because of my eccentricities. Looking past my plain exterior and seeing the heart beating inside.
I've grown so accustomed to talking to you everyday, I can't really remember what life was like before I met you.
We both knew the downsides of an online relationship.
I told you beforehand I could never come and see you in person. The distance was just too great.
You swore you understood and were fine with it.
All the packages I sent you. You always seemed so happy to get them.
It made me feel good to be able to put a smile on your face.
You made me care about you more than I've ever cared about anyone.
You made me feel like a normal human being, and not a cave troll with no friends and no social life.
You made me feel like I was 10 feet tall and bullet proof.
You helped me find my smile.
And now, you tell me you've been seeing someone else where you live because you couldn't handle the distance and not being together.
You tell me you might be pregnant.
All those recent nights I ended our chats with goodnight, I love you and you hesitated or just said "night". I knew then. I could feel it.
Well, I hope your happy with whoever the guy is. I hope you have a healthy baby. You'll be a good mother.
I just wish I'd never met you sometimes.
I wish you would have left well enough alone when I said I just wanted friendship.
Because I knew the kind of pain I'd feel in the end if you became more than that.
Because this is the way all online relationships end.
Thanks for being the best part of my life for 2 whole years.
Time for me to rediscover what being alone feels like.
