Ok so here's what's happened. Somehow, I can't exactly remember how we arrived at this but we agreed to meet up at her apartment to hang out and watch some movies. As usual she stuck near me practically the whole time. I took a restroom break, and when I was finished in the restroom I decided to take a quick look in her room (I know, I'm a horrible person but I wanted to see if there was anything I could find out without risking our friendship by asking directly.)
I didn't look too deeply because I already felt like I was violating her privacy. I also didn't find much, if anything, until I spotted something odd just under the edge of her bed. It looked like a bit of leather underwear with a ring on the front of it, and it didn't take me too long to realize what it was.
Somehow that night we came to the conclusion that we should just stay over for the night, probably because one of us had already fallen asleep on the couch. Being a small apartment, the first few people to sleep took up any usable space in the living room. I had resolved to stay up as long as possible, and of course she wanted to stay up since I was still up. By the time I was ready to sleep the only space left was in her room.
With some noticeable difficulty, she offered that we could both sleep in the same bed. I declined because I wasn't sure about everything yet, and she seemed relieved (although slightly disappointed.) She asked if I wanted to take the bed, and I said the floor was fine, so she laid out a blanked and pillow for me.
As we were laying there, part of me said fuck off to the part of me that wanted to be covert. So as we were both laying there, I asked her simply "Are you in love with me??", and after a bit of silence where I thought she might have already been asleep, she said yes.
The next morning we didn't mention it. Everything went as normal, after some breakfast and chat everyone went home. If anyone's still following this, I would like to know how I should respond, or if I should wait for her to do something. And whether I should make sure it happens in private or if it would be appropriate to be open about whatever happens with my other friends. I don't believe they would have any issues with her being a lesbian if they don't already know, and I don't believe they would have any issues if we were to become a couple either.
