I am married with three kids. I cheat because my life was passing me by. It was so mundane and boring I could hardly get through the day sometimes. I was terrified of drinking or trying pills because I didn't want to escape into that non-reality. I'd sooner kill myself than lose my life to soap operas and daytime reality shows.

My husband provides well, screws well and is well respected giving outsiders the illusion that my life is a perfect one. Meanwhile with him it's all about the firm, the clients, the golfing, the football, his friends, and finally our kids. I hate that our kids are so low on his priority list and that I am the last thing he ever thinks of. As long as the kids are taken care of, the house in clean, the food is on the table, the errands are done and I stay fit and screw him every so often he is happy.

Let me allow the laundry to pile up a bit or put on a few pounds and he's all over me. I'm feel like a robot around the house.

He took me out a couple of years ago for what I thought was a romantic dinner and an overnight stay at a beautiful 5 star hotel. I was so excited be be alone with him having his complete attention for the first time in so long then after dinner he took me to the hotel bar and announced that several of his friends were going to join us. He proceeded to get drunk and talk about fantasy football with them leaving me sitting by myself most of the night. He ended up not speaking to me for three days because I finally snuck off to the room by myself and cried myself to sleep without him.

A few months later, he started telling me that I needed to do things without him and not sit home all the time because it was making me miserable and that I was smothering him whenever he was home.

I talked with one of my old girlfriends who invited me out. I started hanging with her and a few of her crazy friends going drinking, dancing and to karioki nights. At first I was hoping my husband would miss me and not want me going out so much without him but he didn't.

The first time a guy hit on me I indignantly told him off because I was married and was wearing a ring. My friend told me to relax and have fun. She and her friends told me I could enjoy the attention of other men without actually cheating. It took awhile but I got more comfortable talking with men, dancing and even allowing them to touch my butt or kiss me now and again. I was so attention starved I began really looking forward to these nights out and meeting men who were attracted to me and paid me compliments, actually talked with me or just made me laugh.

A younger 23 year old guy hit on me one night. He blatantly asked for sex but did it in such a fun way I had to laugh. We got to know each other over the next month or so with him always complimenting me and my body or my sex appeal. I found myself daydreaming about having sex with him a lot.

One night about a year ago, we were dancing and he told me he had some wine in his car if I wanted to join him. I went with him to his car where we talked and drank wine then started kissing. I couldn't help myself. We made out in his car for a long time with both of us petting each other and when he asked me to go to his place I agree to. We made love for the first time that night. I cried and cried afterward, I felt despondent for a week and almost told my husband but my friend talked me out of it and assured me it was ok. Two weeks later I was in his bed again.

I've gotten much more comfortable having sex with other men since. I still have sex with the young guy occasionally but have also had sex with a lot of other men as well. I am careful and use protection, I shower after and it's me and my friend's secret. They don't really know my husband and I've never been with anyone he knows. We go out to places in town and I never see anyone who knows me from home so I feel comfortable.

I'm not sure how to finish this. I guess I cheat because I'm getting older, I'm lonely and when I'm with other men it satisfies an emotional need I don't get at home and don't want to get from a bottle. I still take care of all my husband's needs like always but I take care of my own as well. I'm happy all week just thinking about the men I may meet on the weekends. I am aware it is "wrong" but so is neglecting your wife and expecting her to let her life go by unlived. Please don't be mean in the comments section.

Your story is a common one. At least it's just casual sex rather than a love affair. A love affair with a co-worker or friend will ruin your life. You're old enough to make your own decisions regarding your sex life. Although I think the sex is a substitute for the intimacy that's missing from your life.

You're a whore. At least it could be just one guy...you make me sick, my heart hurts as if you're cheating on me.

I disagree with number 3's comments. Not only are you not a "whore" I understand completely why you feel the need to look outside your marriage for human contact. Where is it written that a woman must be her husband's slave in all things? Why should a woman stand mute in the face of constant neglect? And do you really think this woman's husband cares? He encourages her to go out knowing temptation is there. He wants her out so he has the freedom to do what he wants to do without the guilt that comes with his neglect of her.

And I applaud her for seeing different men. If she saw one man, it would mean a more emotional attachment which is actual betrayal rather than simply fulfilling ones physical needs which is not in her situation.

Whatever happened to standing up for yourself before you cheat?
