When I was younger, I had never thought about having any sort of desire to be romantic with another boy. Actually, guys doing stuff together like that, sounded pretty awful and strange to me. That summer I was feeling typically bored, and there was this boy who lived close to where I did, and we sort of knew each other from school. Well, he was feeling bored too, and we kind of started being friends. One day, for lack of anything else to do, we decided to go up to this woodsy place not far from where we lived. It was at least something to do.
So we hiked up. There was a small creek, and it was warm, so we took our shoes off and went wading in the cold water. Then we sat down to let our feet dry. After sitting there for a couple of minutes, he remarked that he was glad that there was nobody around to see us, saying how the two of us sitting there barefoot and close like that, might look kind of Gay. I hadn't really thought about it, although I could see what he meant. I smirked and said how there was nobody around, and pointed out that if friends sat together like that, it didn't mean they were Gay. He agreed, and said how it really wasn't the same anyway if stuff like that was between friends. We kind of philosophically discussed the issue, with both of us admitting that we had never done anything like that with another boy, and grinned somewhat modestly over the idea of our doing something like that together. Ordinarily, I don't think that either of us ever would have had the courage to instigate anything. But right then, with each other, it didn't seem like such a big deal.
We looked at each other. Then we slowly leaned over and we kissed. It didn't really feel strange like we might have expected. It felt like kissing a girl. Only, the fact that we were doing it together as boys, made it pretty enticing. We did one kiss, and then we did another, moving our lips around and making it last much longer. We drew back and then kind of sat there evaluating the whole thing. Neither of us knew exactly what to think, except deciding that it had actually been pretty nice. So we kissed some more and then we finally went home.
The next day we were both a little self-conscious about our "friendliness," although we both liked it, too. We decided to go back up to the same woodsy spot. When we got there, we tried kissing again, liked it, and just enjoyed being generally romantic with one another, feeling quite pleased with this new found form of friendly expression between guys.
After that, the two of us started having a romantic friendship that lasted for the next three years, and it was a long time before we finally took it farther. Neither of us ever became Gay because of the experience, but we sure have some great memories of that time. Sometime being Gay is definitely not reuired for two boys to be romantic.

I have got to hurry. If my mom or dad caught me reading this they would kick my butt and forbid me from ever playing on the computer Gin. I am 12 years old and play with my peter constantly. I have a 12 year old friend down the street. I hope dad doesn't delete this because I want to let my friend read it to see how he feels. I'll admit, I was hoping you two would suck each others peter and tell how you felt. Then maybe my friend and I would try it.

I had a romantic time with a friend when I was younger, and it led to a lot more. Neither of us were gay or ever became gay because of the experience. These days gays are so biased. They don't understand that same-sex friends cann just be friends without being gay, and I wish and hope that people will start to understand and accept this, and not lable everything as being gay.

That brought back wonderful memories of when i was a boy, And like you i kissed my best freind for the first time it was like a light had gone on for both of us and we loved it, In fact we still meet up occcasionaly and we still have the romance of when we were younger but we have taken it far beyond kissing and even though we are both married we still love each other in that way we did as boys.

Younger male-romances - and female romances - are always the most touching of our entire lives. It is a shame that all too often this is seen as somehow being wrong, or that it is labled as Gay, which has confused many people having had these experiences. It must be remembered, that feelings of friendship include all of the same feelings of attraction and even love and passion as regulare male-female reltionships, only that such feelings remained unexamined or that people are too shy to ever explore them, and end up somewhat surprised and maybe even amazed when they have the chance and discover this.
There is nothing wrong with same-sex experiences, as past history reveals. One only has to look at ancinet Greece, where such same-sex relationships were seen as normal and even encouraged. Indeed, in more recent times, young adult literature of the nineteen-fifties often showed strong, emotional friendhsips between boys and between girls. The sexual part was not so obvious, but left to one's own imagination. Quite romantic, actually. Small wonder, perhaps, why there has been a revival in reading the young adult novels of the fifties?

I agree with these comments. Same-sex friendships and innocent romance at any age can be a wonderful thing, and it is a shame that people cannot be more accepting and open about such things without calling it this or that. Throughout history sharing closeness in a relationship has always been one of the nicest things!
