I suggested to my husband to do the same thing and to wipe off any excess jelly to prevent a yeast infection. About a week into my husband doing this, he developed a yeast infection anyways. He also suffers from I.B.S. and wears long underwear while at work because it has been extremely cold this winter.
My husband went to the doctors and was diagnosed having a yeast infection which spread to his penis too. He was given a prescription and ointment then told that the yeast infection came from him sweating while at work since he has had to wear the long underwear and can't air things out down there. We were advised to avoid intercourse for 2 weeks which we followed.
All seemed to be healing as expected and he completed his course of medication. Two days after not having to put medication on, the yeast infection started back up again and my husband has not used anymore petroleum jelly since the first outbreak.
My husband also has a skin condition called eczema which is usually on the backs of his hands and on his legs. For that, he uses Aveeno eczema therapy lotion daily and it hasn't seemed to be an issue.
Well the yeast infection has remained only its near his anal hole and we had intercourse yesterday. Now I don't have a yeast infection nor are either of us doing anything sexual with anyone else. He came home from work and showed me that his penis had broke out again since we had intercourse. I had a complete physical recently but everything came back normal and I feel normal inside and out.
My husband also showed me the backs of his hands, they are looking bad and possibly infected. He too has had a complete physical weeks prior to these break outs and those results were normal as well.
He is making a doctors appointment today again but both my husband and I are starting to become afraid since he is not healing properly. Is it possible that he is being misdiagnosed?? Is there another step that we should or could be doing on top of him being rechecked?? Can this all be a breakout of Eczema but looking like a yeast infection?? He is not allergic to the detergents that we use nor have we changed anything and I wash things on a regular basis.
