My friend accepted a job which meant he has to work away for a year. His girlfriend said they'd try long distance but after 3 months my friend called me, upset because his girlfriend had broken up with him saying she can't do the whole long distance anymore.

I listened to him wailing about it for about an hour. Thing is, I already knew as I've been seeing his girlfriend for the last 6 weeks. He still doesn't know.

How can you still call him your friend? I have many friends in the military with me and at times two or more are deployed and I remain friends with them and their wife or girlfriend, which ever, but I have never had a desire to betray any of them but most are so cute if they were anyone other than who they really are I'd give my left nut, if I had 2, just to be able to come on here and confess my evening and night with them. Understand?

The military is one thing, but being a normal job the husband could have kept looking for work that would not have created a strain on the relationship. Leaving her there alone was stupid for their relationship. Man or woman, people have needs both physical and emotional. Admittedly it isn't a good thing to do to a friend, but in the same situation I would have done the same thing. You don't leave your wife alone for a year when it can be prevented one way or another.
