"Know Thyself" is the first wisdom, but it's difficult to apply and it seems impossible for women. In older times and still today in some cultures, families kept the girls safe until they could arrange a good marriage. They promote an image of themselves that isn't real and if they get in the wrong situation with a guy who is dominant and not a gentleman it falls away like a cheap suit. That's why women put all the effort into changing male natures and not put any effort into being honest with themselves about their own.

You can realize your true nature and try to avoid situations like that or continue to blame the "asshole guys" who know your true nature better than you and use it against you, so you learn nothing and find yourself doing things that go against your false self image that you promote, over and over. The choice is yours, but, then, it always was. Even if you fail to make a choice, though, that's still a choice. You can complain, after, but that's a child's ploy.

In the end, you only hurt the ones you profess to love. Unfortunately, a lot of guys buy the image you promote and don't even try to look beneath the surface. So, they end up having to learn the hard way.
