I just got my first teaching job this week. I've been waiting to be hired but didn't have much hope. Then last Sunday night, I got a phone call at 10 PM asking me to show up at a local school the next morning. It seems that a teacher died and they had to replace her.
I showed up at 5 AM because I didn't have any lesson plans or class lists. For three hours I ran around like crazy setting up the room. Then I saw that they were going to let the kids in in 15 minutes. I was still wearing the sweats I slept in. So I grabbed my cute outfit ran into the staff bathroom, stripped, washed my face, armpits, and crotch, and pulled on skirt, hose, blouse, and pumps, applied lipstick, threw my dirty stuff in a bag, and ran out just as the morning bell was ringing.
I had 29 kids in the first class. They seemed nice enough, but when I turned my back to write on the board, they started giggling and whispering. I hushed them, but it continued everytime I turned my back. I was worried that I didn't seem firm enough, so I warned them that if they didn't stop, I'd give recess detention. The giggling stopped.
But it continued for the next two classes. Everytime I'd turn my back, the kids would start laughing. I had to threaten them with no recess.
After my third class, I had a break. I decided to take a walk to the teachers' longue for a cup of coffee. I got halfway there when a co-worker stopped me in the hall. "Honey, do you know that you have panties stuck to the back of your skirt?"
Evidently the nylon thong I took off was stuck in the sipper of my skirt. That's what the kids were laughing at. I thought I would die.
I went in tears to the principal and begged to resign. He said I'd be surprised at how soo the kids would forget about it. Hasn't happened yet.
