Bi-Sexual Male / 36
Safe Harbor.
I was given a promotion which required me to relocate to a large city on the west coast. I've been married for 8 years, with 2 children, and we lived in a mid sized town on the east coast an hour from my wife's family. The promotion and transfer was difficult for her as this was her first time living more than an hour from her family. I was excited about the promotion and thrilled that a larger city provided me more opportunities for my bisexual activities as it is easier to get lost(if you get my drift) in a crowd.
A year into the move and my wife and daughters had adjusted to the new environment while I was working longer and longer hours. Adult book stores provided a menu of masculine men to choose from (most of the time) when I was able to take a few minutes to myself. One professional man I met told me Craig's List provided him with the best options as he also had time constraints. So, I began to review the postings and found some interesting ads and made several contact before I met a guy; it was a good move for me. One day while reviewing the listings I saw a ad which caught me eye: "Safe Harbor". It was a lengthy posting of a 74 year old, bisexual widower who explained: As a young married bi man he stumbled onto a man who was older and had opened his home to the bisexual married men as a "Safe Harbor"; they came weekly for a time to be oneself with/around other bi and married men who had reservations for curiseing parks and bathrooms (this was before adult book stores). Now, this man had relocated to our city after his wife passed and was "paying it forward" by opening his home one day a week, all day, as a "Safe Harbor" for married bi men to come share a meal, swim in his pool, play tennis, relax for a time or just drop by for a few minutes to chat. His home was not a hotel for sex, it was a "Safe Harbor" where guys like me could relax, be safe and relate to others. No sexual activity, just a visit at a bi friends home. If you meet someone whom you might have a interest, then it was a good place to make connections.
I corresponded with this man for over a week thinking he might have a hidden agenda. Finally, I agreed to the Pre-Interview, as he didn't open his home to just everyone and he had to protect the other men's privacy. We meet for drinks one evening and I was surprised and impressed with the white haired retired executive, and when he left in his Bentley Mulsanne I knew he was trustworthy and genuinely protecting his home and his bi friends, which he had cultivated over 3 years to a group of 53 who would come and go on "Safe Harbor" days.
The next week I stopped off on my way home and was pleasantly surprised to see over 20 bi married, bi divorced and masculine single men. The cars parked outside were a representation of all makes, models and aged vehicles. Inside you only use their first names and everyone there was treated as equals. It was like attending an "ice breaker" with men all over the house, the yard...everyone drinking, eating and enjoying themselves. I met some nice men there and became instant friends. I have discovered a golden vein of bi men in the new city and know my days of cruising for a like minded men are over. You only exchanged names and numbers if there's interest... and no one feels pressured.
I have stopped for a 6am breakfast and men there. When possible I have taken long lunch breaks and gone over for fellowship with the men and on my way home for sure. I have made some contacts which have proven to be beneficial, enjoyable and very satisfying. Men from all walks of life are there and everyone is treaded the same. Last week I was able to slip out of the office for a couple of hours and went over for lunch and some chat with whoever might be there; sometimes it good just to talk to someone who shares your needs, wants and desires... even when sex isn't part of the equation. I have definitely found a special benefit from the kindness of a wonderful, elderly gentlemen who "pays it forward" providing a "Safe Harbor" for me and other bi men in our area. I share this in hopes others might duplicate the same in towns across the nation.
