Straight Female / 29
I got in trouble while I was still in high school with an older married guy. I told my parents who the father was, and I got a lecture and all, but in the end we had to deal with the baby that I was going to have. After the baby was born, the decision was to let his wife adopt the baby. Since I had given birth the baby stayed with my mother and me so I could nurse, which I did for nine months. Although the baby was adopted by her, the baby never lived with her father and her adopted mother. She lived with me. I became totally attached to my baby and when it was time for her to begin to talk I taught her how to say momma to me and she called her adopted mom by her name.
I finished high school and went to college, but never left home. All the time I continued to have a relationship with my daughter's dad. During the time I was going to college his wife had two kids of her own, which I baby sat.
After college I got a job at a small company and they were pretty good for me. They taught me a lot and pushed me to get more schooling. When I came up pregnant again, this time it was planned, my bosses gave me plenty of maternity leave which was all paid and everyone at work was into my new baby. I worked there until my third baby was born and I had to quit to take care of the kids. My second and third kids I did not give up for legal adoption, which I did with my first daughter, although she has only lived with me. My kids all have their father's name and we have a fairly well rounded family life.
We are from a small town, so it is well known who is who. I have never once had anyone become judgmental. My older daughter is now in middle school and the other kids are spread all over grade school and preschool. No one cares, they know they are all brothers and sisters. There are lots of large families in our community, our is just one more. I would love to get married too and make it all legal, more for the sake of the kids and their futures than for me. We are who we are, paper marriage or not, but it would be nice to get married.
