Bi-Sexual Male / 27
Nightmare in the Recovery Room. This has nothing to do with me being a bisexual male and neither is their a category but I wanted to share a real life experience/nightmare with my sexually, open minded friends.
I'm 6'3", 193#, good looking, well endowed, professional, bi-sexual male who is very sports minded and very active. I jog 3 miles 3 days a week, 5 miles 2 days a week and 8 miles on Saturday. I play baseball, football, soccer and fish - even in the rain.
Several months ago I fell while jogging and injured my right knee. I was sent to a Sports Medicine Specialist who diagnosed a tear in a tendon and other sports related I juries to my knee. I was sent to Physical Therapy, nor jogging but was allowed to use my stationary bike. I'm one of those athletes who gets a second wind (runners high) when I exercise a long time.
The swelling in my knee was gone but the intense, sharp pains were intensifying so I was scheduled for surgery; undetermined extent until after the knee was opened. Mom and dad were in the waiting room as I was wheeled off for an none defined procedure. I was out of it before I every mad it into the Operating Room and the next thing I knew a Recovery Room Nurse was calling my name. This is where my nightmare began.
I was awake and talking to the nurse when she asked my pain level. Based on the pre-op I told her the pain was a level 5. She said that was good and she would give me some mild pain medication into my IV line. The next thing I knew my eye were closed and my entire body felt heavy. The Recovery Room Nurse was calling my name, shaking my shoulders and even pinched my arm. I could hear every word she was saying but I could not open my eyes or speak.
Now two nurses are holding a hand each, which I felt, screaming my name telling me to squeeze their hands and I was or I though I was but my body was not responding. Then I heard them say, that God your here- it was a doctor who was telling me to move my toes and, in my mind I was, but my toes were not responding. Now the doctor pulls my eye lids open shining a light and I was not able to speak but could roll my eyes. The doctor screamed call Neurology he is having a stroke.
For the longest I hear every word everyone was saying around me. With the exception of rolling my eyes I was unable t move one muscle, yet I thought I was moving my toes and feet and hands. I was rushed to Imaging and as I went down the hallway I heard my mom crying as the gurney passed her. At that point I lost complete consciousness. I woke in Imaging hearing a group of people pulling my back onto the stretcher and number of men talking all around me. I heard them say get something STAT as I heard them say her is having a reaction to the pain meds and not a stroke.
I was given an injection (used when people OD) and my eye lids opened. I was able to move one hand, then the other, then my feet. I finally said "itch" as I wanted to clam my face off. They placed ice on my face and admitted me ICY for over night. I am allergic to that pain med.
