Today my cat fell over the balcony of three stories. I rushed her to the vet, she was in so much pain. One of my neighbors said "its just a cat". At the vet, they give her pain killers, kept her overnight and will take X-rays in the morning, that's if she makes it through the night. My 7 year old saw it happened and was crying all the way to the vet. I can't stop thinking about this cat all night. She did not land on her "feet", she broke her jaw, possible leg and among other things.

The thing is, I am feeling so guilty because there are human beings that are suffering in this world and there are people who has lost a real person close to them. Here I am worried about a "cat". Is this ok? I cared for this cat for the eight 8 1/2 years of her life, I don't want to see her suffer it was not a pretty sight. Any who understands with COMFORTING comments? please post, Thanks

Pets can often times become like children to us. You have every right to feel bad about what happened to your animal. Anyone who says "it's just a cat" is insensitive and cruel.

My dog is more like a child to me than my human kids are. So don't feel bad about caring for your cat, people will say what they want because they don't know any better.

Its a matter of proportionality and not a little irony, i suppose.

Have you ever tried to hold a blood soaked tourniquet around the torn and burnt stump of a limb on what you vaguely remember as a human being - while chunks of steel buzz and whirl around you and the ground shakes more convulsively than the body you vainly try to sheild from further destruction....other than a strange sense of numbness, you cant see much because of the blood and vomit and sweat in your eyes, just occasional bright flashes and cartoon starbursts from the concussions - you smell what must be a burning slaughterhouse in hell and all you can hear (because your eardrums have been blown out)is a memory of yourself screaming over and over and over and over......
This outrageously mangled body bleeds out. You can't think of this twisted corpse as a friend, it is too much to bear.
If you could have held on tighter, a little longer maybe; if you could have brought yourself to stand up and run just a little farther. Nothing remains but doubt, guilt and pain.

But we all have our tragedies and personal crosses to bear.

Who is to say one is worse than another.

Something seems not right with your story.

One night long ago my cat was hit by a car and we rushed her to a vet. They immediately took X rays after which we had her put to sleep as there was so much internal damage it was the humain thing to do. Why would they wait until the next day??

Perhaps the vet was a gay and just wanted to look at pussy all night long instead of taking any action?
