I have an idea! For the states that put Bush back in office, why don't we send their kids off in the war to get killed. How does that sound????

I got news for you, there are some of us who live in the "red" states that didn't vote for Bush and were disgusted to see him win. So why should those of us who didn't vote Bush that do live in the "red" states have to suffer for the idiocy of the electoral college? The electoral college voters should be the ones sending their sons and daughters to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Fair enought, I was jjust angry when I wrote my first post. I was hoping Bush looses so this frigging war would be over sooner. I wonder if those thta voted for Bush would be the first to send or accept their child being killed in the war? Family Values my ASS, just kill fathers, young mother , sons and daughters etc, they are not needed in a family... I HATE BUSH!!!!!

Had Bush "lost" the election, Kerry would be the scapegoat for the massive calmity that will come of America's involvement in Iraq.

In going ahead with "elections" according to the neocon timetable, American troops <I>can</I> begin to withdraw shortly thereafter, regardless of insurgent activity, or even the "results" of the "elections". With the troop strength to be around 150,000, even relatively few troops withdrawn will appear statistically significant, while maintaining a large military presence for some time to come.

Had Kerry delayed elections, (and this isn't necessarily to say it would NOT be a good idea), and escalated troop deployment in response to insurgent activity, the neocon line would have been that Kerry was needlessly protracting the war.

That said, it is difficult to project a time in Iraq that elections could proceed even as smoothy as we have seen in Afghanistan - and if large sections of the Sunni pop. are either intimidated or boycott the elections - then the results will be worse than if they had been delayed.

The Bush mob and it's incredibly fatuous American voter base are responsible for the debacle in Iraq.

I, for one, hope the albatross gets ripe enough enough that even these brain dead war mongering imbeciles notice the stench

Of course thats asking for a lot.

Most Americans are completely convinced their shit doesn't stink.

Here's a thought...
Why not send people on welfare to fight? We're already paying them, might as well earn it.
Why not send prison inmates? Say, fight one year, if you make it back, your record's cleared.
Why not send the homeless people? It would give them work AND shelter.

Most homeless people they wouldn't take in the first place as a large majority of them have serious mental problems. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want someone with schizophrenia holding a loaded weapon if I was in charge of his unit. As for prisoners, I think that's a pretty good idea. We could send the thieves, drug dealers, and petty crime convicts over to fight. Either serve a really high jail time or serve 6 years in the service. I also think that some of the wards of the state, like teenagers who have never been permanently adopted or constantly stuck in the foster care system should have to serve a mandatory service requirement, mainly because they are the ones who later end up in jail after being turned loose on their own. And like you pointed out, our tax dollars and the government is already paying for them. We have a large untapped resource with our prison and state ward system.

Sounds like the basic components of Iraq's army, especially after the '91 war.

Kind of brittle.

Thanks for illustrating the average Bush voter mindset: a base, even grotesque coarseness of mind and a sophomoric short-sightedness reflected most obviously in the proclivity to gravitate to glib monosyllabic "bumper sticker-speak" phraseology; a deplorable paucity of <I>any</i> depth of thought-indeed, a total lack of even the most basic perspicacity that past gnerations would regard as an essential attribute of an adult mindset.

Is it an unwillingness(or, as I suspect, an inability) to think things through to what would with even the smallest introspection, seem an elementarily obvious conclusion - - have we reached a point in history when simple common sense is an extremely <I>un</I>common condition?

The really shocking aspect of all this that it is not the foible of an individual Rube, nor even that of a collection of rancorous hayseeds - - it has become the <I>ideal</I>, the Cultural Manifesto of the vast lower/middle class American.

ADD has been embraced as a cultural norm.

<I>YOU GOT "DRAFTED"???????????????</I> ;

You <I>might</I> have gotten <I>"shanghied"</I>, or to use an even older term <I>"pressed"</I& gt; - but you didn't get "drafted".

Not that the draft isn't coming, now that the united dolts of America have let dangerous moron Bush keep his job, and crazed lackey Rumsfield is allowed to run his yap and discourage all but the most abysmally cretinous youth of America from "volunteering"....

Really, America, How abjectly stoooooopitt are you?

Hate to burst your bubble, but Bush won with the popular vote too. The electoral collage had nothing to do with this one. If it wasn't there, Bush still would have won.

I didn't vote for him, not supporting him, just pointing that out.
