I hate it when people say "God Bless You" after you sneeze.
I realize during the middle ages, people thought that when you sneezed, the Devil jumped in your mouth and that is why people say "God Bless You" when you sneeze.

I take no offense to others beliefs, but please..I do not believe in God the way most of society does.

In this day and age of bird flu and germs, I am more apt to say "COVER YOUR MOUTH!!!" than I am to say Bless You!

I don't say Bless you to stranges so not to offend. It's an old habit, rather quirky when you really think about it. Another old wives tale associated with sneezing was that your heart might stop when you sneeze - go figure!

your heart does actually skip a beat when sneezing. i know this because my doctor. i am a heart patient told ma a major sneezing episode could be danderous for me

Read this:

"From my perspective, it is hard to even imagine what this would mean. A sneeze itself is really a very brief event, occurring in a shorter time then a heartbeat."

I suppose that is the nature of message boards. People make anonymous posts knowing they will probably get a debate (civil or just plain dumb/hostile).

Other than going into chat rooms to debate issues/get feedback, this seems to be the spot to go. Chat rooms are mostly for kids from what I have seen.

People can be overly hostile because there are no immediate consequences. For instance the reply on this board says: That is a crock of shit that your heart stops when you sneeze. The reply is don't call me a bitch, you don't know me. It is obvious to me that the first replier was not calling the person a bitch or that the person was full of shit, but that the statement was an "old wives tale"

Makes no difference, obviously the posters/repliers on this site are entertained to some degree or other by trifling (myself included)otherwise they would not be here.
