I'm running out of ideas and need to be entertained.

My son attended a school with mandatory uniforms. I didn't notice a difference in the atmosphere. Now that he attends public school there is a bit of a problem. It's only minor though.
My son is used to dressing like a prep wearing Ralph Lauren and calvin Klein, and is comfortable.
Some of the other kids from the public school pick on him slightly because I guess the new "style" is boys with loger hair (70's style) and ripped jeans..bla,bla the "Garage band" look.
My son is sort of considered a geek because of the way he dresses. It is too bad because he is a good kid with a lot to offer.

I saw a show a couple of nights ago on "Frontiers" with Alan Alda. It actually showed through MRI that lesbian and straight men have a part in the brain that are the same (and different from Gay men and straight women).

I forget what part of the brain it is called, but it reacted to situations in lesbian women and straight men on one side of the brain and straight women and gay men on the other.

Of course this isn't a hard rule, because you have bisexuals and others whose MRI might not show up this way. I guess it was a high enough perentage that they reached somewhat of a conclusion.

Are far as your son dressing "Preppy" - I hope he continues to march to the beat of his own drummer. So many kids just want to follow the trends, I hope he keeps his spirit as an individual. School can be hard enough and kids show no mercy, but if he stick s to his guns and lets them know he isn't bothered by what they think about his "Proper/Preppy" way of dressing (Of which is MY favorite, not that it matters!)then good for him! I hate to see boys with their pants half way down their butts, sloppy, unkept, long hair, and piercings (whats up with that???) My son is 13 and I see some of the kids at his school look like they just crawled out of bed! Some of the girl look like "Jr. Hookers" with the tight cloths, tons of make-up, it's sad, They are nly kids for such a short amount of time and yet they want to grow up too fast and their parents encourage it. Oh well! Fight the good fight!

as far as the whole nature vs nurture debate on homosexuality, it actually goes both ways. It is, however, linked in the brain...it can either be that chemical balance shown in an MRI as one poster was speaking of which is a birth trait, or it can be triggered from a dramatic mental tragedy or upsetting at one point in the individuals life. also ammounts of testosterone and estrogen (i'm not sure i spelled either of those correctly) plays a large part of it. men and women produce both, but they produce for their own sex more...however some people produce more of the opposites sex chemical which can explain some questions about gender preference.

I had heard that 60% of gay men were born that way. The remaining 40% were sucked into it.

That's right. On that show Frontiers, It showed how women and men's brains react during stress and with people they found attractive.
They showed pics of both men and women to both sexes. Turns out lesbian women produced the same chemical as a straight man during anxiety and attraction.
Straight women and gay men also produced the same.

Also, my husbands sister had a traumatic experience(s) as a child. She is a lesbian. We surmize it may be because of the molestations, but we don't really know for sure.
