Is Being Natral All That Shocking?
Over these past eight years I have found myself becoming what can be described as a serious nudist. Which is to say, I simply find it comfortable to be clothes-free whenever I can.
No, I don’t go around advocating that everyone suddenly shed their clothes and how much better the world would magically be. I do think this, but I don’t make it my mission to go around promoting that message.
I am divorced, fifty-eight years old, and have a son and a daughter who are grown and living independently on their own. I am reasonably attractive for my age, and I am not a wild woman by any means, but rather a staid college professor of literature.
Although I had never realized, or had the chance to until after I was divorced, how much I really liked going barefoot. This may sound a bit silly, but that was how it got started. Just being natural in one area led to my just continuing to be natural in others. Before I knew it, I was happily going barefoot and nude around the house quite a bit.
Being fortunate in that my house is very private, I had no difficulty in sitting outdoors in the nude and experiencing what this was like. Soon, when I could manage, I was spending days without a stitch on and loving it. Apparently this was having a positive effect upon me because at work people began to comment how I seemed much more easy going and happier, as though I had just come back from vacation. Imagine that? It was a vacation, I suppose, away from my cloths.
Needless to say, I felt very encouraged. Curious I carefully looked around for nudist-type clubs and organizations. Most I quickly found little more than want-to-be sex clubs of a sort. I did, however, find a woman’s book club and - yes, I was surprised- they all met in the nude to discuss various books and literature. It was just a nice friendly get together of mostly middle-aged women, most divorced, who had discovered that life could be quite nice when enjoyed in the buff. So in this way I began socializing in the nude and made some very nice friends along the way.
Having experienced this and thinking that life might have more to offer, I adventurously took a nudist vacation to a small resort in Mexico. I spent an entire week clothes-free, had drinks and dinner with other like-minded individuals who were also staying there, and I delighted in every moment of it. Plus, I got a very nice tan.
Well, not feeling any need to be personally embarrassed, I more or less told my son and daughter how I was becoming this at home nudist. They were both surprised and I could tell immediately that they thought this was strange behavior. I thought that I had done a fairly good job of raising two intelligent and reasonably open minded kids. Apparently, though, I had somewhat missed the mark on the latter. All I can say is that I am glad that I was reserved and did not tell them about my belonging to a nudist women’s book club or that I had now taken several nudist vacations to Mexico and was planning on another in the near future. Since their eyes could not get any wider, I am sure that their hair would have curled.
Getting close to retirement, and I have even been entertaining the idea of perhaps moving for at least part of the year to this resort because they do have some year around accommodations for residents. After the disappointing response from my own children – and yes, they did mention this to their father, who now thinks I’m maybe just a bit wacko and probably always was, thank you very much – I have come to the conclusion to do just this.
So for others out there who are discovering the joy of being clothes-free, I might suggest caution in how you approach conveying this lifestyle choice to friends and family. It is not always to be view as a natural thing – being natural.
