Ongoing Question

So, since I was a teen I was always shy and my confidence wasn't as good as I have now. I consider myself good looking, good physical shape and really good health for my age. There is an ongoing question and I hope I'm not crazy.
Here is the scenario:
A guy makes a pass at a woman at work. 3 possible things can happen
1) They go to his or her place and have sex
2) she turns him down and end of story
3) she turns him down and notifies HR and gets him fired.
I have seen the 1st possibility happen over and over again but if it were
Me, I think it would be #2 or #3 if I tried.
Why is that? Why are there some guys who "Have it" and some just it never works out that way?
Thoughts?

I am in the same situation as you. 60 years old, reasonably fit, have been told that I'm ruggedly handsome. I am a clean person, I wear nice jeans, and flannel shirts, T-shirts, what have you. I am not a slob. But I can't seem to get anywhere with women. So in your post, I too would be #2 or #3. I have asked a couple of women out, and have been politely turned down. Everything was fine until I asked them out, and then suddenly, they just want to be friends. Women seem to like me. They say I'm funny, and they like to talk to me. But when I ask one out, suddenly they put the brakes on. I guess I just don't have "IT".

I think lots of us have the same experience. Very frustrating. Often it's even more frustrating when you see friends or just random guys who seem to be very casual about their dress and style and not particularly charming or intelligent, and yet they seem to score like crazy.
One explanation I've gotten over the years is that women love that bad boy image. Or they go for the guys who don't make much of them. Almost like it's a challenge to get the guy who's not serious.
Wish I knew the answer but we are who we are and somehow plenty of us nice, good looking, attentive guys just have a hard time getting off the mark.

To me its all about the chemistry. If the woman isn't feeling it back the come-on is repulsive and upsetting. If the chemistry and timing is right, it is REALLY hot and we're more likely to go for it
