The Man In My Life Comes First

I have a female friend and she accuses me of having as sugar daddy. I lost my father when I was 14. Grew up poor, she grew up rich. I studied art. A man, older man, liked my work, he set me up with a studio and introduced me to some people with money. My art sold, I have several awards, I have showed in NY, in Paris, in SF. I live in his winter home in Santa Fe. I don't pay bills of any kind.

He is a lot more than my sponsor mentor. I agree that my focus is on him and I will not behave in any way to disappoint him. I am not a hugger, but he is and if he wants to hug me I let him. Sometimes he treats me like a child, especially protecting me from bad influences. He likes me to serve him his coffee in the morning. None of these things are demeaning. He has never yelled at me to correct me. I do run to him when he comes home from a trip.

If he heard someone refer to me as a sugar baby he will correct them right then and there. I know he loves me and I am lucky to be loved. My friend is harsh and frankly that's why she is not loved. I suspect her issues are big, but I am not her friend in that way. Never. I had to be hard with her, hurt her feelings, but I can never be that person for her.
