Almost of all my direct neighbors don't speak to me. I have been screwed by both neighbors to the side of me. The one on the left not allowing me to stain a fence on his side, and the other when a tree in there yard fell onto my property last year. The tree was removed by them, however not without $560 damage to my chainlink fence. My homeowners deductible is $500; hardly worth the $60 to make a claim. Well, the neighber to the left of me is very friendly with the neighbor across the street, and they don't speak to me (anymore). I never pursued the issue of the chainlink not wanting long lasting strained relations with my neighbor on the left side; however recently, they barely say hello. I get depressed; I know I'm not a bad person. I'm a single parent who works full-time. The neighbors help each other, I do not get help with lawn mowing, snow removal etc. If anything, I did my neighbors to the left 1/2 the winter. She did send a thank you note. I don't know why I get so hurt - the one neighbor who does speak to me is always trying to get me to buy her used/sub-standard stuff she no longer wants. Makes me feel uncomfortable telling her "no thankyou" it almost seems as if she gets offended. I don't want to move. I could never beat the price that I got on this house. I just need to become immune to what my neighbors think and feel confident in my own life, and my other friends. It certainly is uncomfortable when your so not liked on the block. I also get sad when I see my neighbors sitting together and I know that I am not welcome. Do you think it has anything to do with my being a single parent? I am the only one on the block. I guess the people whom I feel judged by I feel have no right to judge me as they all have their own dirt. I'm rambling, thanks for listening!

Awww, forget them. Yes it would be nice if your neighbors treated you better, but sometimes that's the breaks. I'm betting this has nothing to do with you, it's just the way they are. So don't worry or get to upset over this, it's not worth it. And DO NOT feel guilty for refusing to buy your neighbor's junk! They're just trying to take advantage of you! Believe it or not, I had family members who used to do the same to me. I was a single parent for 10 years, and my son and I didn't have much money. They were always thinking I should be thrilled to buy their worn out garbage. Just say NO and don't think twice about it. And quit doing favors for them, unless you really feel like it. Nothing straightens people out like cutting them off at the knees!

I agree with the previous post. You seem like a nice person. You are right to say that you need confidence in yourself and you should not let them make you feel insecure.
