I Know She Loves Me, And I Am Ready To Love Her Too

I'm 27, I have a good enough job to afford an apartment without a roommate. Hurray for me. Now though I took my neighbor in. She is 23, everyone's sister. She took a real bad fall off a bike, broke her shoulder and her wrist. She had surgery. Her family is far, far away. The social services lady showed me what to do. Now I am her nurse, sister, friend.

She can't bathe so I help her with her hair, washing and caring for her hair, combing her before bed and in the morning. Her hair is envious, but lots of work. I help her sponge bath, she likes me to really scrub her everywhere. I shave her legs, her arm pits, trim her up too. I put her makeup on, dress her, and because she can't wipe properly with her left hand I wipe her clean with a wipy. For her bath she likes being cleaned like a baby.

It is an everyday routine, from the time I help her up, breakfast, bathe her, dress her it's ten in the morning. We go for a walk in the park down the street. I fix a picnic if the weather is nice. We watch a movie, or a show. She needs lots of sleep so I put her down for nap in the afternoon. The social lady is impressed with her care, and her doctor will start her on therapy in a month.

I won't say I have fallen in love with her, but maybe I have. She sleeps with me and we hold hands and whisper secrets, I kiss her goodnight and put my arm around her to keep her warm.

Her short term disability is enough to cover the rent on her apartment, I can take care of her for everything else, if she wants to stay home and recover I won't ask her to go back to work. She is ok with moving in with me, giving up her apartment at the end of her lease in January. Her short term disability won't be renewed after her doctor clears her for work, but here with me she doesn't need to work, not if she doesn't want to. I can take care of her.
