Have you ever had neighbors thumping a basketball outside of your bedroom window?? They could have easily placed it somewhere else. They are inconsiderate.

Have you ever had chronic pain where you need your rest?? Apparently not.

What don't you get?? Manners?

I haven't had chronic pain, but I have been inconvienced by a thumping basketball. I hated it! The people who lived next door at the time, they rented the house, actually two families, on after the other, both had basketball dribbler fanatics. This has passed as the people moved, thank god, and the people there do not have children! However, recently I was looking up laws regarding neighbors and stumbled upon a law which does not consider a basetball thumping to be an inappropriate noise, one in which the law would contain. I feel for you, but seriously there is nothing you can do about it except try to forget it. Perhaps they'll move. Children do grow up! Keep your windows shut and keep the television loud, don't look out the window - if they think their not getting to you they may stop or at least slow down!

Oh yeah. My jerk neighbor (he's a Mormon) has a huge backyard, yet he puts his kid's treehouse and trampoline smack dab against the fence. We must now keep our bathroom window closed at all times because the kids can see right in, thanks to the stupid treehouse which is taller than the fence! Also, my husband is a day sleeper and has to put up with those little monsters and their friends yelling and screaming right outside our bedroom window! I am DREADING this summer when the little bastards are out of school! There is also no law in our city about how close something like this can be to the fence, so we're stuck listening to the noise.

Screaming Mormon brats in a treehouse? Fire is your friend. Wail 'til the middle of the night, saturate treehouse with gasoline, toss on a match and voila! Problem solved.

I've been living with excessive basketball playing neighbors next to my house for nearly 7 years. I HATE the spring and summer because "junior" plays basketball about 5 feet from my living room every single bloody day!! Talking to his family is pointless. They say he can make all the noise he wants until 11pm when the noise ordinance kicks in.
I can close the whole house up and I can still hear it loud and clear and I'm in my own private home. I'm really thinking I should just move.

I had the same problem with the basketball. I too closed up my house and could hear the pounding, even feel it, and I was way further away than 5 feet. Perhaps "Jr" is ready to graduate soon? I can only hope for you. Your neighborn is not exactly correct regarding the noise ordinance. Does your area have a nusiance abatement law? Look into it. The best to you
