Now Isn't That Funny?
It was at the start of this last summer that my son, who is twenty-eight and single, and I decided to go for a drive in the country. We drove out a ways and found a nice place to stop. It was quite peaceful and secluded and there was a small stream. It was such a beautiful natural setting and the air was fresh, and it was just so inviting.
I remarked how wouldn’t it be fun to just take off our clothes and commune with nature. My son sort of shyly agreed, and asked me if I wanted to. I thought about it, considered how there was no one around and, feeling uninhibited at that moment, I said, sure – why not?
So we both got undressed before either of us could lose our nerve or think about it too much. It was the first time that we were naked together, so that was a bit of a modest moment, but it quickly passed more or less. So there I was, with earrings, a silver necklace, immaculately painted finger and toenails to match, to say nothing of my nicely coiffed hair, hardly looking like a nature girl, and we walked around a little bit, enjoying the fun and freedom of doing that, put our feet into the very cold water of the stream, and then sat and had a cigarette before getting dressed and leaving (yes, we both smoke. Naughty, naughty, I know. But that’s just the way it is).
Before we got dressed my son looked at me and remarked how he didn’t know that I liked to go barefoot. Being bare from head-to-toe, it was his seeing me walking around barefoot outdoors that he commented on. I don’t think that I will ever forget that. In fact, I know that I won’t.
