What We Give Up
When I was fourteen I had a bisexual fling with another girl. Well, my mother found out and went all to pieces and accused me of being a lesbian and all sorts of horrible things. Needless to say, our relationship was very strained after that and things were never the same, and I became more independent minded and distant from her.
Then I went off to college and there I had one very brief bisexual encounter, but that was it. I graduated and moved to the west coast, got a good job and found a nice house right by the ocean. I was feeling bored and my love life wasn’t much, and it really wasn’t difficult to find a female friend who was feeling the same. So we started having a bisexual affair.
We both enjoyed this, and although neither thought of ourselves as being lesbians, and we were friends and not madly in love, but the relationship was so nice and satisfying, that we moved in together. That was ten years ago. CeCe and I are still together and very happy with our friendship and arrangement.
I told my mother and of course that pretty much finished what was left between us. I was very disappointed, thinking that she just might be happy for me. She has remarried two more times, and is apparently a very unhappy person still looking for love. This to me is very sad. So I suppose that what I am trying say by sharing this story is – try to be more understanding and accepting. These types of things are not the end of the world and it is not worth the disappointment and the heartache on both sides to just walk away from everything. So, think about this.
