Go back to the racist Web sites and leave this one out of your propaganda circle.
Fortunately he's starting to understand that a lot of the crap he promised is impossible. With any luck he'll end up sitting around wishing he could change things when he can't.
In four years we can elect someone to undo whatever damage he and the democratic congress does.
It has nothing to do with race. He's too green and starry-eyed for the job. He says a lot of pretty words but they're just words.
you know nothing idiot stop spreading your hate communist
Really?
When was the last time a president did what he said he would do once he got into office?
If experience was so important, then why has Bush baby screwed up the country after 2 full terms in office?
And who will undo the damage of the last 4 years?
The system if finally, really broken.
Now's the time for complete restructuring.
Too bad Obama is appointing many of the same overeducated jerks who brought us to this pass.
i thought this was about bad neighbors?
dumbass...scroll down a few posts and read the one someone posted about Bush. Who really cares? Oh my god..lets call the police...this website is becoming unorganized!!!
The 'damage of the last 4 years' is largely from the Community Reinvestment Act from 1977, signed into place by Carter. It required that banks do business with people that are largely unworthy of credit. It was pretty well ignored until Clinton made it more workable in 1993. Banks were then pressured into making mortgages they shouldn't, backed by the knowledge that the government would buy up the loans through Fannie Mae.
It's convenient to blame Bush for this, but he didn't have anything to do with the mortgage meltdown that's cratering the economy. The war he started certainly isn't helping anything, but the reality is that if Obama had been in the White House the last 4 years, we'd all be saying it's Obama's fault. It would have happened anyway.
No one has a plan to 'fix' this. Not Obama. Not anyone else. The marketplace has to fix itself. My worry is that the democratically controller congress is going to turn a perfectly lovely recession into a full-fledged depression with their meddling.
You can really thank Carter for starting this back in the 70s. Bush didn't screw up the economy - the CRA in 1977 was the beginning of this and it's taken 30 years of bad loans (accelerated rapidly after Clinton signed stuff in 1993) for the fuse to burn down and light the bomb.
Blame anyone you want, but Bush didn't create the problem and Obama isn't going to fix it.
It's not the toothless 30 year old law that did anything, it was the result of the changed law 15 years ago and the more aggressive enforcement that started things rolling. Banks were forced to write bad paper. The money went elsewhere as you said (dot coms, housing) and created bubbles.
Regardless of the specific incidents which caused this, it's not the result of some dopey cowboy over the last 8 years. This has been brewing for a long time.
A right wing crank? I think not. I'm rather liberal, actually. Why is it that everyone who thinks that Obama is blowing smoke is a right wing nut job? There are plenty of democrats who see the smoke for what it is - just smoke.
Obama may indeed be blowing smoke.
The fact that he said the deficit would not be an issue since the gov't needed to spend us out of recession, then contradicted himself a week or 2 later after he selected his cabinet and advisors suggests he doesn't know what he's doing.
That doesn't make your idea that banks were 'forced' to lend to unqualified customers any less bizarre.
That law you were talking about applies mainly to commercial lending.
It was meant to prevent red-lining; the practice of refusing to lend to anyone or business within certain neighborhoods.
The truth is that big money will not invest unless profits are guaranteed.
The financial system was becoming unstable before the Ist World War and the Fed. Reserve and the coming of the war postponed its collapse.
After the war, big money tricked itself into thinking that boundless, guaranteed profits were to be had in regular business.
When it became clear that the real world had not gone away, the Great Crash occurred.
That's why we've been on a war economy since I,94O.
War industries have guaranteed profits.
When Clinton balanced the budget, big money had to find investments other than Treasury bonds.
Ipso facto we have had bubbles and crashes since then.
I agree Bush is not responsible - in either sense, but the Fed DID make the problem worse on his watch.
I think PRESIDENT OBAMA is the best thing that happened in this country in years. Fucken bible-thumping racist, thieving republiKKKlans make me sick. I hate THIEF Bush and his evil family of racist out for the rich criminal family. Atleast Obama WON his election.

Each to their own. Some see Dumbocrats just as revolting. So there. Geez polotics are just as nasty as religious people.
I love this thread! There's a mixture of stupidity, twisted facts and some well-informed arguments.
First off, anyone who criticized Obama is not a racist. He seems to be a pretty nice guy, a bit starry-eyed but so what? Obama was raised by his white mother and white grandparents in a very prosperous environment. He was educated at Harvard. He is of mixed racial background, as are many people in our society (including myself).
Speaking of Harvard, Obama tapped 20 or so of Harvard graduates for his transition team. Just as W. liked to surround himself with fellow Yalies, Obama likes hangin' with his Crimson crew. What does that say about the elite running our country? And no, I'm not a Communist; I'm an attorney and a Yale graduate who sees how the more things change the more they stay the same.
Secondly, guess who the KKK backed as a Democratic presidential candidate? If you guessed Hillary Clinton, you guessed wrong. The Klansmen had such a horror of Hillary (and all outspoken, smart women) that they backed Obama.
Interesting, isn't it?
Yeah, so what? What harm could he do if he signed every hairbrained bill that Congress passed?
If the congressfolk use their heads and pass some sensible bills, maybe this will work out. If they continue to hand out billions to everyone with a handout, then we're screwed.
We'll see how much harm he does. Not because he isn't a nice guy - I'd love to sit for a cup of Earl Grey with him - but because his agenda isn't fiscally responsible. At least the one he offered up before he was elected.
The cabinet choices suggest that he's changing his tune. So I guess anything's possible.
