My neighborhood is nice and quiet--safe. I don't hate this certain set of neighbors, but I think they are stuck up and obnoxious. Their son and my two sons play together. While my sons like their son, I get sick of hearing the little carbon copy of his father BRAG about, well--everything. It's obnoxious and i find myself tensing up whenever the kid knocks on my door to play with my kids. Finally, the other night when the boy came over while my sons were at the table doing their homework--I responded to his comment to my 5th grade son that the math homework my son was doing was "the same homework that his 7 year old sister does." I said, " Um, no. Both [of my sons] scored perfect 600's on the math portion of their state tests and they are not doing second grade math." The kid walked off in a huff. Though they let their kid come over and play often, his parents act and have said things in the past to the effect that I am not a proper parent to my children. I am a single mother and a teacher. I work VERY hard at my job and at home to provide everything for my sons that I can--materially and otherwise. THEY on the other hand, have TWO incomes and a grandmother who lives with them and helps them cook and clean and babysit--isn't that nice for them? I talk to them minimally, for the sake of maintaining a comfortable situation for the kids to continue to play together. But I more than resent that they talk and act like they are better than us. Any of the three of us could wipe the floor with their asses intellectually AND we have the good manners not to brag about it! Until now, lol!
