Maybe its something in the water.
Idiot 1 takes idiot 2's small dog and lets it run around in the adjoining front yards, but take a special pleasure in directing the dog to relieve itself in MY yard. When my children play out there, they are prone to track the fecal material into the house on their shoes. Our *inside exclusively* cat smells the mess and points out to me the exact locations of previously undetected remnants by making ITS bowel & urine movements in those spots.
Idiot 3 across the street provides a launching pad for multiple cats who detect the dog's messes in my yard and naturally leave their contributions as well.
Idiot 4 has another small dog which is transported by idiot 3's herd of children, first into idiot 1's front yard. Idiot 4's dog sees idiot 3's cats and runs into my yard, smells the results of the other animals and gleefully joins in.
I dont blame the animals, I blame the idiot owners; but I can sense the inevitable - having called animal control numerous times, seeing to it that idiot 2 was heavily fined - BUT they persist.
Of course we are now the pariahs of the neighborhood and idiot 5's children, joining with idiot 3's herd, broke out a window of my vehicle parked in my driveway with a sling shot. When the police arrived, I was informed that there was little I could do because of the pack of children's "minor" status, even tho I had witnessed the incident first hand. The policeman made a mistake in the report and the judge dismissed my small claim against idiot 5.
Now I leave the front yard untended. The idiots disapprove, and I am glad. My children play elsewhere.
There is alot of payback due to these mentally challenged examples of candidates for human euthanasia, but it can wait until we move. Like I said, it must be something in the water. We are leaving.

take some rat poison, put it inside some nice ground beef meat balls, and leave it in the yard for the animals to come and enjoy,

after a few times, their blood stream will be sooo dry, that they wont even be able to shit or leak...

That's too obvious and would show up on an autopsy of the dog. You can make it look more like an accident by going to the store and ordering a filet of salmon from the seafood case. Put that out in your yard, and within 5 to 7 days, the little bastards will start dying off one by one. Salmon has a parasitic flukeworm in it that will get into the dogs system and kill it. This flukeworm only affects dogs, not cats or humans, and it will only affect dogs if the salmon is served raw. By the time the owner realizes anything is wrong, it's too late, and more often than not, vets think it's just a case of parvovirus unless the owner knows for sure that the dog has eaten salmon.

<I>That <U>is</U> bloody brilliant</I>!!!!!!!!!!
The only problem I can think of is that the dogs are probably too well fed to take the bait.
As I said, the <I>real problem</I> has been the moronic irresponsibility of <I> the "owners"</I>.
I wish there was a way to directly address the humans who, simply by their incomprehensible irresponsible behaviour, have made their otherwise innocent pets the vehicle of their equally incomprehensible beligerence toward me and my children.
I had spoken to these people for years, and when the animals began to become a problem, I asked them very civilly to keep their pets and their children at home. They seemed to regard that request as a gauntlet thrown down, and were more than eager to take up the challenge.
After repeated requests went unheeded, it was clear to me that a more direct response was required - so my confrontations became more - - forceful.
Even rather heated confrontations went nowhere. I called "animal control". One of the pet owners was fined.
Still the animal incursions continued. One confrontation resulted in the police being summoned.
Still the animal invasion continued.
I have been reluctantly engaged in this war of petty spitefullness for almost two years now.
Maybe I will return to the old 'hood and distribute the salmon directly into their back yards. Maybe, at some point, the dogs will get hungry.

You'd be surprised, even though they are well fed dogs, they'll still take to the salmon because it's a treat and it's something that they haven't had and simply can't and won't resist because it's very appetizing to them. Something like salmon is a major treat to a dog and they'll woof it down so fast in delight that the owners won't even realize it was there or that the dogs ate it. If you were to use something like arsenic or poison, dogs can sense when the food has been poisoned and know to stay away from it, but in this case, the dogs don't know any better and will go right away for the bait. And as for getting back at your neighbors, imagine how much fun they'll have explaining to their kids how their stupid, selfish behavior got Rover killed in the first place. One good turn deserves another, I say.

I was exactly the same as you!!!!
You ask all civil and.....BANG!!!!! Before you know it theyre suddenly not speaking to you but make it obvious by still speaking to your partner....damned annoying, resulting in rows between me and him....sorted now since he has seen first hand their behaviour but still a dull itch of why didnt he trust my explanations and rantings!!! That aside there could have been all out war I suppose but due to having Epilepsy (dont want to embaress myself having a seizure in front of those not rights because believe me they`d just point and laugh) and also my mother moved to another country and I was dealing with that therefore they werent uppermost in my mind though I gotta say they were very very bleak times. What it has become is stalemate....their cats come in my garden and I just let my dog out....they cant speak to me using the hint method because I wont have anything to do with them...I am growing a tall barrier between us and them (I like gardening) and now I`m getting stories from other people complaining about their cats....but I dont care because now I have a kind of peace, no yapping at me over the fence when theyre not the type I`d be friends with anyway....no brats hanging over the fence squawking as brats do....no politely ignoring the advances of nextdoors husband (the weasle!!)....no nicities nor pleasantries to people who clearly need counselling to sort out the aggressive violence and dysfunctional behaviours displayed by these positivley revolting people.....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Lets hope it lasts.....

You and I both know that these pitiful excuses for neighbors, much less examples of parents, won't in any way take responsibilty for explaining the deaths of their pets to their children. In a perfect world, we would not be so pestered by idiots in the first place. Still, I believe your general idea and modus operendi has much merit, in a rather dark way. I am curious, is the flukeworm present in all salmon? Has this effect been observed elsewhere? I would not want to give the wretched curs an expensive snack without the desired effect.....
In any event,
perhaps(I hope)you might be glad to hear we have found a very nice old house in the countryside with a lot of "elbo room" and we will close the deal within the next month. So, not wanting to count the chickens before they hatch, of course, we are well rid of these pathetic examples and they were, in a way, the motivating factors in a desireable change.
It strikes me that sometimes things really do work out for the better in some aspects, at least.
If we ever have similar marauding dog problems, I won't forget your idea.
And, I just might come calling again in the old neighborhood.

My particularly pathetic excuses for neighbors were only "friendly" as long as you were within ear shot - then they would clamour about and gossip. They were the textbook examples of <I>hypocrits</I>.
Ugly Idiot#1 and his ill-favored harridan of a wife are elderly Catholics who, presumably, confess their sinlessness at Saturday evening Mass and revell in their "ownership' of the neighborhood. Then they return home and make excursions up and down glad handing everyone as tho they are running for political office. I think that they are the primary catalyst for the late(and unlamented) unpleasantness.
Idiot 1 has no pets, and used to be the crank who complained most loudly about animals befouling his yard.
He found it so distasteful, in fact, that when he took it upon himself to remove idiot 2's small dog from its own backyard, he would then encourage the animal to releive itself in my yard. Idiot 2 found this somehow delightful. WTF?
I have never been very fond of Idiot 1. Until they were well into their 80's, they travelled a lot and were seldom at home. In retrospect, this is probably the reason we were content for so long. The rest of the imbeciles lived far enough away so I was indifferent to them.
I am not necessarily an unfriendly person, but I think it is <I>in</>correct that you "can't judge a book by it's cover". When their god made them idiots, this god at least gave them idiot's faces.

Well I am very glad you are moving. I am hoping to do so later this summer once I get some legal mattters with my apartment complex straightened up (the former manager has stolen my identity (along with those of a few other tenants and is ruining my credit). I'm not quite sure if this works for all salmon, but I'm sure you can find more information on it around the internet. If you have a pet yourself, next time you take it in for a check up, mention that you heard from a friend that salmon is really bad for dogs and you didn't think it was true and wanted to know why, and if so, is all salmon bad for dogs? You can also call up a local vet and ask over the phone and say that you suspect that your dog (real or imaginary) got into last night's garbage and ate the salmon you threw in there and you are concerned. That should answer your questions no problem. I wish you the best neighbors in the world in your new house and neighborhood and hope that life is much more enjoyable there.

What hypocrites.....I dont do the religious thing at all, every religious sort I`ve ever come across have been less than normal, I think their belief allows them to feel 'better' than the rest of us and they carry 'judgement' like their own lunatic banner!!!! Theyre just too scarey!!!!
I myself follow whats fair and morally correct....I use avoidance a lot...I avoid distastfull people as best I can, I used to think there was good in everyone...not anymore, I guess I`ve seen a lot of incredibly bad behaviour and am astonished by the things people are capeable of...if I could live in a little village with fields between neighbors I`d be in 'Paradise'!!!!!!

It is difficult to escape notice that it is <U>always</U> those people who profess the the utmost "religiosity" are always the very people who are most keen to cast the first stone. It might be very likely they are over compensating for what they dimly perceive as the evil nature within themselves. But clearly they arent apprehending the message of their "religion", and it is especially disappointing when these folks are getting on and are <U>still</U> either in extreme self deception or totally ignorant of the significance of their purported faith. It gives me the impression that someone isn't doing their job very well.... There is an old saying: "The self-righteous enjoy the martyrdom of false witness." I never quite understood that until I viewed it first hand.
I am in complete agreeance with you about the "avoidance" technique. It is a perfectly acceptable way for keeping a certain regularity in one's day-to-day affairs, except when you encounter those examples who seem bent to provoke a more visceral response.
I thank you for your considered and kind words and wish you the best!

I'll repost an earlier answer of mine:
Get a bottle of "Roundup" or other herbacide. Sneak over in their yard and write "asshole" or other choice word(s) in 3 foot letters.
After a few days, the grass will be dead and the words readable.

Why put something out that will harm or kill the dogs when its the people at falt. Put something out for them and leave the dogs alone.

Easy for you to say when you're not the one having to deal with the idiots who own the menace dogs. Would you say the same thing if the dogs were pit bulls that had already attacked another person or two around the neighborhood and were harassing this person by coming in their yard and keeping them petrified from leaving their house, and animal control won't do anything about them? When it comes to nuisance animals, a dead nuisance animal is better than having your yard messed up all the time or losing an arm because it decides it wants to attack you.

Having read the original message and the entire thread - I would agree that the neighborhood is a scene best viewed in the rearview mirror.
For those who are for some reason unable to move or arent inclined to leave the scene, original poster was on the right track. Keep records. Invest in surveillance equipment. Keep the animal control or pound posted. If unpleasantness becomes physical,or you are physically threatened, call the police. Did I mention keep records? There isnt any excuse for this disregard of private property.
It really sounds like here is classic example of a case for a civil suit against ALL the idiots, and your damage awards would MORE than make up for your upfront attorney's fees.

You didn't say they were menace animals, you said the people were letting shit in your yard, I think the neighbor hood will be much better off after you leave.

There's no reason to punish the animals here. They are just being dogs and cats - it's the owners you should be mad at. What kind of a person hurts a defensless dog? Really? It's like poisoning a child - would you do that if it weren't illegal?

So, would the same thing go for obnoxious children? I mean, it's the selfish, inconsiderate behavior of the parents who allow them to run around the apartment complex screaming at all hours so it would seem your logic would be applicable to them as well. Anyone have any good suggestions for doing away with a neighbors young children?
