Its always easy enough FOR THEM to point out small annoyances, for example, my visitors might have run over their sprinkler heads as the visitors entered or left my drive(which abutts their grass & sprinklers). I therefore have directed visitors to be attentive to this concern, or even better, just to park on the street. I have addressed their problems, when they have been pointed out, and even tried to be mindful of potential problems, to keep them from having any reason to bitch.
Yet they see nothing wrong with letting their irrigation water overflowing onto my drive; which undermines the concrete, causing it to crack and disintegrate.
I have asked them to simply adjust the heads of the sprinklers so that the flow stays on their own property. But thats too complicated for them, apparently, because its been going on for years.
Well, they are going to feel self-righteously abused when they get the bill for the repair of the concrete(which they will ignore), and even more disparaged when they get a summons to small claims court(which they can't ignore).
Why, oh why are people such a--holes?

Why not adjust the sprinkler heads yourself?

Well, at this point, they have made it clear they don't want me on their property, which is fine with me. Besides, I just don't see how it is my job to:
a) Pick up the debris from their casual oversites and/or shoddy yard maintainance.
b) Clear the dirt from my yard after their haphazard excavations which have left so much dirt on my side of the divide that it has killed off the grass growing there.
c)Trim their trees, the limbs of which grow out into my driveway.
d)Maintain their irrigation system, even where it runs immediately along the property line.
You see, I have more than one gripe with them(and addition complaints as well, but for the sake of brevity, I initially mentioned only the most recent) and I would unintentionally find myself becoming their full time gardener, unremunerated.
I think I have enough on my plate keeping up my house and yard and trying to keep them OUT of my yard.
At this point, the only really effective recourse I have is to build an eight foot brick or stone wall the length of the lot, to keep them at bay.
I'm thinking it would be cheaper to move.

Actually, if you want to really piss them off, Trim the Trees! You have every right to trim any branch of their tree that hangs over your property. Our neighbors and us do it all the time (of course, we have a better relationship than you do with yours). I figure that these people will freak out over it and they won't be able to do a thing about it. Also, maybe you can install something near your property line that will make the water go back into their yard, thereby flooding it, and as for the dirt, just shovel it back onto their grass, BUT, take photos of all this stuff first, to back you up in case they try to start and trouble

Too true.
I am then left with the branches to dispose of - I can't just throw them back into their yard without being guilty of what they already do; when THEY trim their own bushes, THEY let the debris fall into my yard. I have thrown it back into their yard repeatedly, but it continues nonetheless.
I have removed most of the dirt from the remains of my lawn, but much of the dirt is so fine that it defies removal. I have taken to blasting it with the hose to force it back into their yard and succeeded only in creating a mudhole where there was once grass.
I have photo albums full of pics of their casual carelessness, which, I suppose, I could take to small claims court, but I am going to accumulate evidence of their abuses until I can sue them for some REAL money......
I guess the bottom line is that I'm not neccessarily trying to just piss them off. I would be content if they would just be responsible neighbors.
