Fell In Love With My Stepson

I'm in a relationship with my stepson (let's call him "E"), and after a year of hiding it, it feels good to come out and say it. But this is not a cheating story, which it might sound like going in.

I met his father about 12 years ago. He was a widower with one son, E, who was about 13 at the time. I fell deeply in love with the man and were married within the year. E and I didn't have a rocky start at all, and he accepted me into the family almost right away. I didn't fill in for the role of a mother for him (I never intended to), and we developed a platonic relationship more akin to friends.

Cancer took his father about 5 years ago. Despite the fact that the event effectively broke any familial relationship between us, E and I decided to stay close. We didn't live together or anything, but I remained part of my late husband's family: they invited me to gatherings, Christmas dinners and such. E and I ocassionally texted, but that was it. We both eventually moved on from my husband's death, E started a serious relationship that has now ended, and I started dating as well, something he accepted.

One day, however, I was invited to a weekend getaway by a couple of friends. It was pure chance: my date ghosted me the day before, and E's plans with a woman for that weekend had fallen apart. So I figured "why not", and invited him to join me.

At first it went like any other weekend with the rest of the family, but then something hit me. I had rarely been alone with him for long (especially not since he moved out for college), and that made me suddenly see the young man instead of the kid I knew. And I noticed that we were having a great time on our own, until the realization started to dawn on me over dinner: I was feeling attracted to him. Over dinner that first night, there were those casual brushes of our hands or legs, accidental, awkward stares that became more prolonged over time. I think he realized it then, too, but we didn't do or say anything that night.

Then he drove me home on Sunday... and I decided to make a move. I invited him in to my appartment and offered him dinner, which he accepted. I served wine, we had a chat, and I didn't even make it to the kitchen. I felt compelled to kiss him... and he kissed me back. He made mad, passionate love to me that night. I hadn't been fucked like that in ages. I'll never tell him this, but not even his father fucked me like he does. Turns out he had a crush on me since forever, but he obviously never though it'd ever go anywhere. And I, well, had always been attracted to men of all ages, even those way younger than me. I didn't mind the age difference.

What we did mind was our preexisting relationship. There was some initial awkwardness and guilt, but once we dealt with it we decided to move forward with our new relationship... in secret. We started dating under the radar, going out to places we knew it would be unlikely to bump into our families. Within six months, he moved in with me in secret. We decided that it was serious, and that the past wouldn't influence our choices going forward. His father, my husband, would like us to be happy.

So last week, we finally decided to come out as a couple. Not all the family was exactly welcoming of our decision, and even a few of our friends rejected it. But as unexpected as it was, we're very happy, the sexual chemistry is off the charts, and we're not harming anyone, so yeah... my former stepson is my boyfriend now.

Sounds like everything worked out for both of you. My only advice would be to take it slow to make sure it's not just lust on both sides. Good luck to you.

You sound very cool. I'm happy for you both. As 1st poster said take it slow. I would also advise that you make a promise to each other that if it doesn't work out, that there will be NO hard feelings.

It seems to be destined to happen and yet no one needs you to advise you to consider various issues.

Enjoy and be faithful to each other.

So happy for you both. For those who do not like it, too bad, get over it.
