My Cousin, Her Lesbian Side Trapped Her In A Bind
My cousin, female, a year older than me, came out to me when she was home from college. She had been in a same sex lesbian relationship for several months. She and I grew up together, cousins but as close as siblings. She couldn't tell her parents, or mine, or anyone. She asked me to find a guy to get married to, and quick, before she was hooked for life.
I had a friend, a good family but on hard times following the death of his father. If he married my cousin, I would talk my uncle into underwriting his dental school. The marriage happened three months later. My cousin struggled but kept her head above water, delivered three children to the marriage. In her forties she told me she was going crazy, she had to tell her husband where her feelings lay. She asked me to broach the subject with him.
In their forties, he agreed to a negotiated agreement. She moved out of the bedroom, he was free to bring another woman into the equation. His dental assistant, who he was already having an affair with. She promptly got pregnant.
My cousin was torn up by jealousy. Every intimate gesture they had hurt her to the core. But it was too late, she chose to give up her matrimonial bed and cede it to his young dental assistant.
My cousin is 55 now, still married to her husband, accepted his concubine and dedicates herself to church charity work. She has had one lesbian lover since she got married over 35 years ago, a love affair that lasted a couple of years. We remain close, but I can't help her with her deepest feelings. She is his wife, that is her identity, giving up her place beside him is the mistake she never should have made.
