My Man Stood By Me, It's A Shame More Men Today Aren't Like Him

When I was 16 a guy back from Viet Nam got me pregnant. I was 3 months along and got in a car accident. I didn't lose the baby, but I broke my hip and femur, and a deep cut on my cheek. My family didn't have insurance. The guy was really upset, he was stationed in Kentucky and he flew back, claimed me as his wife, married in the hospital and the JP predated the license. I and the baby were covered by the military.

I gave birth not yet able to walk without a crutch or cane, by C section because of my hip fracture. My husband asked to be discharged and moved to live with my family and me, getting a job at the school bus barn. He was a mechanic in the army.

I'm writing this for one reason. When he got me pregnant he was dirt, less than dirt. He stood by me and our baby. He worked and went to college. He worked and advanced, and then set up a construction business. We had three more children. Today we celebrate our 50th anniversary.

Good night and God bless,

This is an outstanding story. Sometimes people *do* do the right thing. I hope you healed up from the crash fully, and I hope your whole life was as good as this story in terms of success.

The younger generations think virtues happen all by themselves.

They're clueless.

This story is based on knowing right-from-wrong, having a moral compass and the ability to think about someone else besides yourself. Throw in a little hard work and its amazing what can happen.

Thankful for your amazing life.
