I Found My Love In The Gutter
I walked out of a bar on Washington and found a woman sitting on the ground with blood down her front. Concerned I knelt down to see if she was alright. Drunk, unresponsive, without a purse and ID, I called 911 and did the best to check where the blood came from. The paramedics could not find a source at the scene. She resisted getting in the ambulance so I went with her. After an examination in the ER they determined she was both inhibited by alcohol and fun stuff that younger people take. They suggested admitting her overnight, and let her dry out.
The next day when I arrived at the hospital she was severely hung over, hurting bad. I took her cl8thes sizes and went to Target and bought her a change to wear. She would not cooperate with what went on, where she lived, even her name. I checked her out and took her home with me, put her to bed and let her finish sleeping off her condition.
That was four years ago. She lives with me, she went to college, her folks in her hometown were let know, she went out with some so called friends, the blood was another girl's bloody nose. Over these four years I've fallen for her, and she responds. It's not the best, she's barely 23, and I'm going on 53. But love finds you, and here she is, a happy, fun, sober, new college graduate. I just feel that I could have walked away and missed out on the sweetest girl I have ever known.
