Real Women Are Hard To Cone By

In 1982 I was a young attorney sent to talk to an undesirable about a bill. A girl was there, she was beautiful, maybe 14. She slipped a note to me, help. Business is business, it took a while and I negotiated a buy. I took her to a friend in the country, left her there to be raised. One day she was 21, graduated from an A class school, a mind for numbers.

I hadn't seen her since the buy except in pictures, her English was good. I told her that freedom is elusive, I was there to get married. She understood, she said. After she was married I moved her to London, put her to work for a friend. She kept her end of the bargain.

It's your word that counts. She's been a real wife. Something western women don't understand.
