I Have To Do What I Have To Do

Everything was good in my life, then my father had a stroke and was paralyzed and his brain was affected. In six months we were on welfare and living in a real dump of an apartment. I was in another school, another life.

I worked from the time I was 14. Everything, babysitting, food service, at the mall. I graduated from this bad high school, but my SATs were not good enough for a scholarship. I was stuck in upper middle class goals and lower middle class money. And my father was worse.

The summer after college I was working at a cupcake store. A lady who shopped there offered me a job modeling. You modeled for some creep who watched you get naked. I made enough money to move into my own apartment with another girl.

She had this daddy who gave her money. I met him. One weekend he invited her to go out on his boat and she invited me. There were a couple of men there, one of them looked like a queer. The other one was a take charge tell you what to do type. I went with him and he became my daddy.

He fell hard for me and paid for my college, and apartment and a car. I was upper middle class again. He's still my daddy, I feel embarrassed with my mother and father, but I can't go back to the cupcake store. I give my mother money, she takes it but doesn't want to.
