Lost A Friend To Covid

My best friend and I got into an argument. She and I have different political beliefs.

Covid came up and she asked me why I thought a certain way. I told her to stop asking me because this topic was sensitive to me and made me mad and I had mentioned this before. She refused to stop her line of questioning.

I told her I was ignoring her because I was going to blow up. Well she’s ignoring me now. Maybe forever. Apparently she didn’t think my apology was sincere.

I thought I was doing the mature thing by not engaging in a discussion where I was going to blow up at my friend.

If you can't control yourself in a discussion, you're not mature. Admittedly, knowing your weaknesses and avoiding the conversation is a sign of maturity, but if you can't talk about things that upset you without "blowing up", you have no emotional maturity or control, and you might as well be a cavewoman.

You're not alone with this experience, unfortunately. Do you have any regret or wish you handled things different in retrospect? By the way I'm not placing blame because it seems you handled it appropriately....the after math seems sad.

I wish I had just ignored my friend and gotten back to her when I was in a better mood. By the same token, she was rather negative and I have moved on without her in my life.
