One Afternoon When I Was 19

My car broke down on a busy freeway. A man pulled up behind me and told me to get in his car and he drove away from my car before getting off the freeway. He called the police and a tow truck from a gas station where we stopped. Once my car was rescued and at a garage I asked him why he just drove me away he said the most dangerous place on a freeway was with a disabled car. He drove me home because my car was going to need a day in the garage. I never asked him what his name was, what I do know is he was my guardian angel that afternoon.

I remember twenty years or so ago around here, a young girl's car broke down and the very first person to stop was a serial killer. They found her driver's license in his apartment, but never found her body--or any of the bodies of the other missing girls. He killed himself when he was caught.
