Now I'm An Adult

I lived with my girlfriend in a small apartment complex. A guy moved in next door and started getting friendly. We 'behaved' openly in his presence for him to get the idea and leave us alone. Tone deaf, blind to the obvious he didn't leave me alone. I lied and told him I was in a romantic relationship. I told him not to come in. I told him not to touch me. I told him not to kiss me. I told him not to take my clothes off. I told him not to fuck me. He was deaf to it all.

Once was enough, I got pregnant. He paid even more attention to me. I didn't want his attention or his money. He offered and I accepted that he put me on his insurance, as a common law spouse. He insisted I change my address, not move, just change my address to his for his company's paperwork. As a common law spouse I didn't get child support, I got his paycheck for me to manage it. I gave him an allowance, of his own money.

The complex wasn't a safe place for a baby, we moved across town to a new complex with washer dryer connections. He got one room and the baby and me the other room. I stayed home mostly, until I found a lady to babysit. When the second baby was on its way we got married with a license. One day I was a Scott free twenty something, the next I'm in a complex with three pools and a gym. With kids.

That's how easy it was.
