I'm Tired Of Being Poor

After ten years of living on the edge of poverty I accepted a marriage proposal from a retired man. Taking care of his house is a lot better than cleaning other people's houses.

Don't blame you at all. I was "noble" so to speak and turned down a marriage proposal from a well off man. That was 25 years ago. I've done menial shit jobs until I've got arthiritis and other problems. I'm 45 and I look 60, and I'm bitter as hell. Principles? Don't make me fucking laugh. Marry and take a chance. If it doesn't work out, you've lost nothing.

Good for you. Lots of good men who are lonely would be happy to make life better for a single woman. Good luck.

Most relationships are transactions of one form or another. If you're better off, and can respect each other, then why not. Don't feel bad.

That's a great situation you got yourself into. You never know... Maybe you will fall in love with him! I was poor back in the day and I had a chance kind of like yours, but I turned it down. Guess what? I'm still poor and he lives in an amazing place in La Quinta, CA. What a dummy I am.

My much older boss lost his wife to cancer. He leaned on me and after several months he came out and said he wanted a woman in his house, a woman in his bed, was I in? Not the proposal I dreamed of, but an immediate leap from lower income, poor, into the upper middle class. He was 58, I was 23, and I'm a mother of two now, and other than COVID, these last 5 years have been a dream come true.
