I wonder sometimes with my wife because she pays so much attention to detail with clothes and folding laundry. I try to fold them back right if I haven't been wearing them long, or I have to wait to put them into the laundry when there is enough that she won't notice an extra pair that she hasn't worn.
With her friend, I think she may be catching on as the last time she was visiting, she had asked my wife if she had left a pair in the bathroom when she was changing. Luckily I was using the toilet and had the chance to take them off. I played it off like they were underneath the sink vanity, and gave them back to our houseguest. But the look on her face, gave the implication that she knew because she hadn't worn these ones; black satiny high cut briefs with lace around the legs.
