The Troubled And Difficult Steps We Have Had To Take To Be Together

As a young girl growing up, including my teen years I never fantasized about sex, never masturbated, never wanted a date. I went to college at an all girls school in Canada and I didn't want anything to do with men. I didn't hate men, far from it. It's just the personal part that I disliked. In my school there was a large share of lesbian women and I got 'dated' more than once and I got kissed and asked out on second dates. But in the end that wasn't for me either.

In my junior year I met a girl named Ivonne. Her parents were English, working in Canada at the time. We got along fine and we became best friends. She didn't want anything to do with a man and neither did I. We spent time together and on more than one occasion we slept with each other on weekends. She is the first person that I got naked with and we played boyfriend girlfriend. She played the boyfriend and got on top between my legs and I played boyfriend and got on top between her legs. In both cases we ground against each other into orgasms. We liked being naked and we liked staying up till all hours of the night talking.

We finished college and her parents had been transferred back to London and she went with them and enrolled in a graduate program. I stayed behind. Moved back to Mumbai and got a job in my home town and I cried myself to sleep every night. I tried masturbating but all I did was cry louder. We spent time on the phone to hear our voice and we made plans for me to come over. But those plans never materialized for economic reasons, I didn't have the time to go and I had to work.

She finished her year long grad course and came to Mumbai to be with me. Home with me and when I say we cried, we cried for an hour or more, before falling asleep. We woke up in the morning and we got naked and took a shower together and then we went to my bed and we made love over and over again. No one was the boy and no one was the girl. We promised we would never be separated again.

But out of the blue my parents invited me to a dinner with them and when I arrived at the restaurant there was a man sitting with them. They introduced me and gave him detailed information about myself. They were quick to point out I was single and I was in need of getting married. For the following weeks I was pushed and shoved into talking to him and made to understand that I was getting married. They had searched carefully, he was the right age and standing and my single life had to come to an end and I had to get on with making a home.

My wedding day was the worst day of my life. The party afterwards lasted for two days and my wedding night was worse than death for me. He imposed himself on me and ensured that he consummated the marriage. He had me report back to my mother that the deed was done and she should expect grandchildren in due time. But that was the least of it, he also told me that he had accepted a job in the United States and we would be moving shortly, we would make a home near San Francisco.

For fifteen years I lived in the Bay Area, I had the necessary two children, I went to graduate school at he University of San Francisco. But not one day passed that I didn't think of the girl I left behind. Ivonne moved back to London and we corresponded in code, names changed, story lines with hidden meanings. She didn't marry, she stood up to her parents and told them that she had other ideas, other needs, and a man was not one of them. She was pushed out of her home and only because she had good degrees was she able to support herself.

Then on my fifteenth anniversary I told my husband that my one and only true love was at in London, and I wanted to leave and go and make a home with her. Divorce is perhaps the worse social status you can have. But being married without her was destroying me inside. I was surprised when my husband relented, but on the condition that we turn it around. Ivonne would come to the US and she would be my childhood friend. No need to a divorce, no need for a scandal. He got Ivonne a job and with the job a work visa and she came. We had not seen each other since my wedding night.

Time had passed, we were grown women, I had children, I was married but as far as she and I, time had not passed. Our first hug was passionate, our first kiss was passionate. And we escaped for the weekend to reestablish our relationship. My husband was very good at making up situations, of finding ways for us to be together. Our one promise was not embarrass him and have a scandal. All in the 'dark of night'.

My husband moved to Connecticut and we followed dragging home and kids with us and we set up house in a fashion that allowed us to be together. By then my children had learned that we were closer than just friends and they were old enough to keep the secret. For the work world of my husband, for our neighbors, we passed ourselves off a first cousins. And that is how we found a way for us to live these last ten years together.

My first instincts when I was a little girl, a girl in high school, a college girl were all correct. I wasn't born to be beside a man. I did so to please my parents. I was born to share my life with Ivonne. Even if we missed out on the most precious years of our lives.
