Not The Type, Maybe You Are?
A long time ago I went on a camping trip. It was a graduation level camping experience. We were all training to be deep adventure in nature, self reliant. The experience was tough and not all of us passed. Some people aren't cut out for toughing it out.
Later, after I joined the Marines I found out that the same thing happened with leadership. Not everyone is cut out for it. I made it, I passed. Leadership is something you have or you don't.
I went to work for a large company and rose to a position of leadership. Same thing happened, many fell by the wayside. Leadership is something you have or you don't. The trick, or the skill if you wish, is identifying leaders early and developing them.
