My Debate With A Gay Guy
I like to think that I'm a fair and honest person. I'm not the most accepting person but I do believe we all should be treated fairly and with respect. So this is a story about a debate I had with a gay friend of my girlfriend at the time. It was what I'd consider a fair and productive debate-conversation.
He is a 6' 6" 260 lb white guy. Nice guy who I actually got along with. He's openly gay and I never disrespected him or disliked him because of his sexual orientation. He was such a good friend of my girlfriend that she invited him to go down to Savannah for her daughter's wedding. I'm not going to get into who she was marrying but I'll say that he is the son of a very famous TV personality. It was a huge wedding. We were put up in the Eliza Thompson House, quite nice actually in the heart of historical Savannah. It was my first time there and I fell in love with it. Even though I was born and raised in Detroit, I've since moved to SC, I love the south.
Anyway, we had a few free nights and walked all over checking out the sites and at night the bars. We were in a gay bar, a first for me and we eventually ended up on the topic of being gay and what was the attraction and so on. He tried convincing me that all men-people are at least partially gay. This debate went on for hours. There was no yelling or screaming or name calling. Just a very good debate with two totally polar opposite views. He aluded to what I think is an erroneous fact that people of the same gender know how to please each other better than those of the opposite sex. Ultimately I convinced him that being a good sex partner has more to do with caring about your partner than having the same genitalia. Basically if I'm a selfish lover it doesn't if I'm gay or straight. If I'm only concerned with my own pleasure I suck at sex no matter what .
Then he tried the whole if you never tried it, how do you know you won't like it, debate. I said well I don't have to punch myself in the nuts to know I won't like it. But I went further... I find nothing sexually appealing about men. In fact I don't understand what women find sexually attractive about us but I'm so thankful they do. It would be similar to tell a vegan to eat meat because they don't know what they're missing if they'd never eaten meat before. It's ok to be different I say. Expecting everyone to be the same different as me only means you don't agree that it's ok to be different.
By the end of the night we both learned a bit about the way people think. And I promised not to try to turn him straight and visa versa.
We are all unique. We all have different tastes which is great since we'd run out of our favorite things if everyone loved the same thing. I still find it amazing that not everyone loves to eat pussy as much as I do. But to each their own. I don't judge or criticize anyone for being different from me. As much as I find men gross sexually and he doesn't is proof that it takes all kinds to make the world go round.
I'll never understand the attraction of men to other men. It doesn't make them wrong or me wrong. It just makes us different. Just don't keep saying don't knock it until you try it. I'd puke looking at some man kneeling in front of me with his hairy asshole staring me in the face! But if that's what rocks his world, enjoy.
