I'm My Mother
Two things to get out early. I have my US papers because of my mother. I grew up in a Latin America where my father is an Army officer and he comes from a wealthy family of coffee farmers. We went to American schools so we could all speak English.
My father is a total authoritarian. He has no room for women including his daughters. My brothers went to college, my sisters and I were lucky to finish our high school. We were introduced to men to marry around sixteen. About that time the internet was online and I found a chat line where I 'met' a Mexican boy. He wanted to go to the US but he didn't have papers. I offered to marry him. We were 16.
After high school I convinced my mother to send me to live with my grandparents in the US. Then it was up to him to get there and we would run away and get married, a perfect plan. I went to a state business college while I waited. Months and months passed and my year with my grandparents was coming to an end. He finally came across, he didn't look anything like his picture, he was a lot older, he was aggressive and demanding. He wanted sex immediately. I got scared and told one of the boys in my class.
He told me I had to escape, disappear. He offered to drive me to his cousin's in Texas where I could hide out. My Mexican internet boyfriend found out, I told him I was leaving, and he found my friend and hurt him. That's when I told my grandparents. We were scared at what this man would do. I told my mother, she told my father, he showed up the next day, he found this man and he had him arrested and deported.
I learned my lesson about internet dating. I met a man a year later, I was just 20, he liked a young girl and married me. He's was a 40 year old police officer, he's just like my father. I know how to behave and not be presumptions, I live a few blocks from my parents. These men want children immediately, locks and chains. I'm 30, married ten years, I have five children, my husband is now the police chief, he is 50.
