Sisters Wanting To Formalize Their Marriage To The Same Man
Back in high school my sister and me had the same boyfriend (I was grade 11 and she was grade 9). By boyfriend I mean boy friend, we both had sex with him at the same time. It was a joke around the house that we were going to grow up to be sister wives. My parents encouraged us and said it was good that I was looking after my sister because she was a bit scatterbrained.
Well, off to college and out into the real world. Our boyfriend is no longer a boy and we are no longer girls. He stayed with us all these years and keeps us and we are the closest thing to him. We haven't gotten married for obvious reasons, we can't. My parents consider us married to him, for what that is worth, and I guess we consider ourselves sister wives. except that there is no drama.
We thought about a plural wedding, but who officiates? Believe me, it is not legal. It's legal if two women walk up and say we want to get married, or two men, But if two women come up and say we want to be married to this man, we are told to take a hike.
We have children now and they go by their father's name and we go by our birth names. It's confusing, and to make matters worse we are confused at school as to who is who's mother and the kids don't help. It's funny to them.
For example, we bought a house. We had to get a lawyer to write up the purchase so that we had similar to spousal rights, except contracted. There are other instances where we have to use a lawyer to have us treated as spouses and not third parties. For example, what about medical issues. I bet you didn't think about that.
All this can be corrected if we can get the government to allow plural marriages. We aren't talking about 100 concubines, we are talking about a man with a couple of wives (who happen to be sisters, but that shouldn't be the issue).
