It is a noble goal, but not, in my opinion, necessary. I think there is use in trying out your partner before marriage - what if you don't like the sex, should you stick with bad sex your whole life because you're married to it? No, I think you should have sex before marriage, but you should be very picky about whom you have sex with (that goes for both boys and girls). One night stands are a bad idea, get into some meaningful relationships. Do more than intercourse to explore the other person, learn what you like and don't like, and use that knowledge.
Wait, if you wait, and don't if you don't, that's my mantra.
You may get so used to jackin by the time you marry, that you won't want to.
You have a few things to weigh:
1. How much do you care about what your faith system teaches about premarital sex? If you care a lot, you may feel guilty about not waiting.
2. Are you just eager to have sex OR are you thinking about taking a committed relationship to the next level? If you just want to experience an orgasm, buy a vibrator. Trust me, vibrators are always more reliable than a penis.
3. If you already in a committed relationship, how will this new intimacy affect it? If the sex is a try-out before getting married, this is probably a good idea. Just as sex shouldn't be overrated, it shouldn't be underrated. A marriage that isn't sexually satisfying has been linked to real physical and mental health problems in women.
However, sex doesn't fix a bad relationship. Often it just delays break-ups and can actually make the breakup more bitter.
4. Are you prepared to deal with disease or pregnancy? Herpes is forever. Most STDS can cause sterillity or birth defects. Untreated syphllis can make you blind and/or crazy and will eventually kill you. HIV/AIDS kills. No protection except abstinence is 100% effective. And even if you get an abortion, you still have the effects of that (physical and emotional) to live with for a lifetime.
5. Are you prepared to deal with the emotional effects? Sex means different things to different people. Will it matter as much or as little to your partner? How will you be perceived differently by people who know you are sexually active?
Do it whenever you feel ready enough to do it. Your ideas change as you get older and experiment with more things. When I was 14 I told someone I was planning on waiting to have sex until I was at least 16. I'm almost 16 now.. my birthday's in a couple days.. and I've had sex with 5 different guys as of now. When the time comes you might feel differently so don't make any definite plans you may not be able to keep and go with the flow.
Waiting to get married before you have sex is just bullshit. I certainly didn't wait. I was banging chicks beginning at age 15 and never looked back. By the time I got married in my late 20's I had done everything imaginable sexually (even some gay encounters) and consider myself a better man because of it!
I agree. It's nice to have experience before you get married. That way, you won't disappoint your spouse on your wedding night.. and vise versa.
Yes, wait. Learn from example not experience. Don't jump into something that you don't know a lot about. Sex isn't just something that is impersonal. It's very personal and you shouldn't just want to let someone in something so personal as that if they are not someone that would be just a passing face in your memory. Your first sexual experience should be uncomparable. Let that be with someone that you have committed you self to, for marriage, for someone that should want to give that personal part of their self to you also. Don't let it be just a sex thing, anything based on the physical only lasts as long as the physical person is there. It should be based on more than that.
Well, you should. Not necessarily because its moral, but because having sex with random people could lead to bad consiquences (or however that bloody word is spelled). Ever heard of STD's (sexually transmitted diseases)...you could get them from anyone, even if your a male having sex with a female...they suck, and they usually lead to having your...erm...fertility unit being removed.
