I'm a 22 year old woman who is a virgin. Before you start making assumptions let me state that 1) I am attractive (this isn't be vain, I'm 5'10 109 lbs with dark blond hair and green eyes. I've worked as a print model since my early teens) and 2) I am not a religious nut (in fact, my parents raised me and my sibs without a religion because they are both from former communist countries and think poorly of religion because of the propaganda they were exposed to).

I want to wait until I am married to have sex because I think that it would be wonderful to share this special experience with only one other person. There are so many things that we can share with everyone: a delicious scoop of ice cream, a funny joke, a backrub, or sad movie. Wouldn't it be great to have something that only you two share with each other.

Also I don't want to get pregnant before I am 30 (so I can continue to work as a model --I wear size 4 so any extra weight would be bad). I know that there is birth control, but none is 100% effective and I don't want to have abortions. My mother had 2 in Russia before she came here and my father's sister, my aunt had 7 in Cuba. Both my mom and my aunt say that they regret the abortions even though they didn't have any complications or religious guilt.

I've been teased since high school for this dream and even sexually harassed by men who learned that I am a virgin. I have been called a lesbo and a freak. And people can't seem to believe that I am not doing this out of religious hang-ups.

Why are people so threatened by virgins? WHen I model, I work with girls who are sluts, lesbians, and bisexual, even a girl who used to be a guy. None of them are harassed the way I am. Can't they accept something different.

Guess if you didn't "broadcast" the information, they wouldn't know.

Actually, I don't broadcast it, but other people do --especially guys I've dated and are angry because I won't sleep with them.

I get asked out a lot. I'll go out with a guy twice and then, he seems to expect sex. I'm honest and explain that I don't want to have sex until I'm married. I've never had a guy take it well. Most seem to feel that I should have warned them. Otherwise, I'm a cock tease. WHich I don't want to be. I acutally dress pretty conservatively when I'm not modeling (knee-length skirts and decent blouses --no spaghetti-straps)

Ok, I'm a 25 year old guy. I've had two long relationships, and three other sexual partners. I, for one, applaud you for what you're doing. I didn't lose my virginity until I was 19 and thought I was ready....that hoe since cheated on me, and I've moved one, but I still regret giving that to her. People give you a hard time for many reasons, as a guy I can confidently say it's an attack on their ego (they only here that you won't sleep with THEM), or more commonly, people attack others differences to cover up their own problems...i.e., being a slut. Trust me, you'll meet a man that will appreciate this, and will forever love you for it. The right man will make you know you made the right decision. Be true to yourself, in the end, that's all you can do. Guys like sluts, girls like assholes...there are few chivalrous men for the few standard-having women, but you'll find yours. Try asking someone out, the quiet shy ones are always the best guys.

Great. Keep it up. It is ok to remain virgin till you get married.
